With school back in for most of the country, and cooler weather on its way, it’s important that children start the day with a nutritious and filling breakfast. So why not serve them something warm, delicious and healthy that takes just minutes to prepare, oatmeal. I recently has the opportunity to try some delicious Steel Cut Oats oatmeal made by Better Oats, and was amazed at what a quick and easy, yet nutritional breakfast it made!

Better Oats makes a delicious and healthy collection of oat-based products such as muffins, cereal, oatmeal and more.  Their products are made using only the best premium whole grain oats which are naturally trans-fat and cholesterol free.  These oats are cut thick to help preserve their natural texture. They also add flax seeds, which are a natural source of Omega-3 and a good source of fiber, to create products that are both nutritious and incredibly tasty. And any products that contain fruit or other ingredients are made using only real fruit, not reconstituted fruit, and natural ingredients.

I was sent a couple of boxes of their Steel Cut Oats instant oatmeal: one box of the Original flavor and a box of the Maple and Brown Sugar flavor.  Despite the fact that their oatmeal is instant, the taste is more consistent with slow-cooked oatmeal.  Each box comes with 10 pouches of oatmeal, and all you need is a bowl, some water and a microwave.

These pouches are unique in that they can be used in place of a measuring cup to add the water.  You just open the pouch along the dotted line, pour the oats in the bowl, then fill the pouch with water up to the pre measured line and add the water to the oats.  Place the bowl in the microwave for 2 1/2 minutes, and breakfast is ready!  It can also be made on the stove top in about 5 minutes.

I grew up eating one particular brand of instant oatmeal, and still used that brand up until I tried Better Oats Steel Oats oatmeal.  The difference in taste and quality is amazing.  The Better Oats oatmeal really does have thicker cut oats which in turn provides more flavor and is much more filling.  The Original flavor is very good, especially if you add a bit of butter and a little sugar.  The Maple & Brown Sugar flavor has the perfect amount sweetness without being too sweet.

I love the convenience of using the pouch to add the water, and the fact that you can have a nutritious, filling meal ready on a busy morning in less than 5 minutes!  Next time you are in a rush getting the kids ready for school and yourself ready for work, skip the cereal and go for the convenient, nutritious, delicious and filling Better Oats Steel Cut Oats oatmeal!
