Getting to Know Bullock’s Buzz: The voiceBoks 2013 Back-to-School Social Party

I grew up in Birmingham, Alabama where I still reside today.  After graduating High School, I moved about 2 hours away to attend college at Auburn University where I graduated with a BS of Early Childhood Education. I moved back to Birmingham where I taught for several years before deciding I wanted to try something different.  For years I went from one career to another, never really finding what it was I wanted to do.

I have always had a love for the written word.  As a young child I quickly learned to read, and it was nothing odd to find me with my nose in a book.  As I grew older, that love of reading continued to growth with me, and also developed into a love of writing.  I still have several “books” I wrote as a 9 or 10-year-old child, as well as notebooks full of poems and other writings I penned over the years. Despite my love for reading and writing, I never tried to take it beyond the scope of a hobby.

In early 2009 I (finally) met the love of my life, James.  After one date, we both knew we had found the one we were meant to spend our life with.  Within a few months we were engaged, and James quickly became a beloved soon-to-be son-in-law to my dad. A short time before our wedding, we got custody of James’ 8 year old son who came to live with us from Virginia. Then on November 6, 2010, we were married in a beautiful wedding I put together myself with the help of my aunt.

After our wedding, I continued to work various jobs, never really finding exactly what it was I wanted to do.  After stints as a legal secretary, a waitress, and again as a teacher, I finally reached the decision to go back to school and work on getting my Master’s in Education.

Unfortunately, before I could save up the money, my father was diagnosed with cancer. Following surgery, he then underwent a serious back surgery, and then another diagnosis of cancer.  Next came a broken hip, then brain surgery to remove yet another cancer, and finally a stroke.  At that point it became apparent he would no longer be able to work or live on his own, so I quit my job and dedicated myself to taking care of his health, his general care, and his finances.  As time went on his physical health worsened, as did his mental health due to strokes and eventually dementia.

As a way to cope with the stress and emotional aspects of taking care of my terminally ill father, I started frequenting the internet, and joined sites such as BzzAgent, Crowdtap, Smiley360 and others where they send you products in exchange for your opinion. I quickly became friends with a group of people on Facebook that belonged to these same sites, and learned that several were also bloggers who reviewed the products on their blogs.  This caught my interest, so I took my product reviewing and my love of writing one step further and began Bullock’s Buzz.  I quickly discovered that the more I blogged, the more I enjoyed it.

As time went on and my interests expanded beyond just product reviews, Bullock’s Buzz grew with me to where it is today.  Now I focus on several topics in addition to product reviews. I share delicious recipes, explain fun and easy D.I.Y. crafts, host incredible giveaways and even post the occasional can’t miss deal! Everyday I hope you will discover something exciting and new.

I have finally found what it is I like, and want, to do.  Like the majority of bloggers, I am striving to make a living blogging. I love the companies I work with, I love meeting so many interesting and enjoyable people through blogging, and I love sharing everything I find and enjoy.  It is a daily learning experience for me, and I truly hope I am providing useful and interesting information to my readers. After all, without my readers this blog would not be where it is today, and still growing! And for that, I say Thank You!
