Black Friday has officially kicked off the holiday shopping frenzy, but for many there won’t be any shopping this year. Many will be lucky just to have food on their table. While your thoughts are turning towards giving this holiday season, consider those who are not as fortunate as you and #GivingTuesday.
For the last four years, Giving Tuesday has provided the opportunity for us to make a difference in the lives of others by focusing on charitable giving. This year, on Dec. 1, 2015 – the 4th annual #GivingTuesday – World Vision will partner with Thirty-One Gifts to help charitable donations make twice the impact.
On #GivingTuesday, for every donation made through Worldvisiongifts.org or made by phone (1-888-511-6588) to World Vision, Thirty-One Gifts – a direct-selling company offering totes, purses and more – will match it with a donation of one of their products, such as a tote bag or blanket, for up to a total of $1MM worth of products for women and girls in need around the world!
Items that seem so common to us can make a world of difference for others. For example, the Zip-Top Organizing Utility Tote , has been sent to volunteers in Burundi who use them to carry materials for educating families about malnutrition. Before receiving these totes, the volunteers carried all of their equipment and materials by hand. Now, the simple gift of these tote bags not only makes it easier for volunteers to visit each home, but also helps protects the materials so the volunteers can use them longer and ultimately reach more families.
