Collecting things seems to be a part of human nature. We all do it at a young age, beginning with collecting things like rocks and leaves. We often see collecting as an adult as a bit of a geeky thing to do. However, people of all types collect things, from books to action figures. If you have a collection, it might currently be hidden away in a room in your home. Perhaps you even keep your collection in a storage unit because there’s no place for it in your home. But maybe you can display your collection, or at least some of it, without overwhelming your home. Keep reading to find out how you could do it.

Choose the Right Pieces to Display

To begin, you need to think about what you can display in your home. Some people’s collections and extensive and it wouldn’t be realistic to have everything on show. If this is the case for you, you should choose some favorite items to have on display. When you’re thinking about what you can use, consider the rest of your home interiors. You don’t want items that will stick out too much or overwhelm the rest of the design. Think about things you can group together, too. You might be able to put them next to each other or even put part of your collection in a display cabinet.

Select a Method of Presentation

If you want to display some of your collection, think about how to present your items. Chances are, you don’t just want to put them on a table or pin them to a wall. There are some ways you can make them look more like art. For example, the right frame can turn a poster into a piece of art. If you have a poster collection, they’re the perfect items to use for your interiors. You might also use shelves to display your collection, or perhaps a glass-fronted cabinet.

Use Vertical Space

You might be thinking about using as much of your collection as possible to decorate your home. However, the danger is that there could be too much clutter. You don’t want to cover every available surface. You also might be concerned about keeping everything in good condition. The answer to this is to use the vertical space you have as much as possible. Use hooks to hang things on walls wherever you have space. Just be careful not to cover everything entirely, or it could all be too much.

Incorporate into Your Interiors

Your collection might look quirky, but it shouldn’t look odd among your other things. If you want to display it, think about how it will look in the rest of your home. It’s worth considering a redesign of your interiors so that your collection will fit in. For example, perhaps you have a collection of globes. You might decide to go for a shabby-chic or dignified interior theme so that they work with the rest of the decor.

Your collection doesn’t have to be hidden away in your attic. Let it see the light of day by using it in your interiors.
