Although I received compensation for this post, all opinions are my own.

Some of my favorite childhood family memories are of those special times when my dad, sister and I would get together and have a family fun night! We’d hop into his car, head to the video store to rent a movie or two, and then run into the grocery next door to grab some sweet movie treats. And one of our favorite treats to make was Root Beer Floats! We always used A&W Root Beer because it has such a delectably rich and creamy flavor. So it’s no wonder that after 100 years, it’s still the number one root beer around!

A&W Family Fun Night Pledge

At a time where pretty much everybody their eyes on their device’s screen, it’s getting harder and harder to spend quality time with our families and make memories to cherish for years to come. Established in 1919, A&W Root Beer has a long history of creating family memories, and this summer, as part of their 100-year celebration, A&W Root Beer is encouraging families across the country to disconnect to reconnect and start creating those special family moments we want but cannot always achieve.

How? By inviting you to take a pledge to go technology-free for 1 hour on Friday nights this summer so you can create your own family fun nights to remember for years to come. And to make this opportunity even sweeter, families that make the pledge will receive a coupon for a free two-liter bottle of A&W Root Beer!

My family and I took the pledge this past weekend, and spent Friday night enjoying movies and a chocolatey twist on that quintessential summer treat, the Root Beer Float!

If you like chocolate and root beer floats, then you are going to love these Brownie Sundae Root Beer Floats! Last August 6th, we celebrated National Root Beer Day with these amazing Salted Caramel Root Beer Floats. At the time, I didn’t think anything could beat that tasty treat. Boy was I wrong!

To make these delectable treats, you will need the basic root beer floats ingredients, along with a few extras including chocolate syrup, chocolate sprinkles, and your favorite brownie recipe. And don’t forget to place the mugs or glasses in the freezer about 30 minutes before you are ready to make these Brownie Sundae Root Beer Floats.

For our root beer floats, I decided to use this amazing brownie recipe, although I bet these Double Chocolate Peppermint Brownies would taste pretty darn good, too. Or, to save some time, you could always use store-bought chocolate brownies instead.

To get started, simply chop the brownies into little bite-sized pieces and place them into the bottom of the frosted mugs.

Next, add 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream. If you want to mix things up more, you can always use your own favorite flavors.

After you scoop your ice cream into your glass or mug, it’s time to add the A&W Root Beer. As a child, I used to love watching it bubble up and over the sides of the glass. I still do!

Now on to the toppings! I made this root beer float brownie sundae ‘my own’ by adding ingredients that I would add to a brownie sundae. Whipped cream, a drizzle of chocolate sauce, a sprinkling of sprinkles, and then a cherry! Yummy!

Now add a straw, grab a spoon and enjoy these Brownie Sundae Root Beer Floats with your family! Don’t they look OH SOOOO GOOD?!?
