banner_logo_header_2People are always looking to save money, whether shopping for groceries or budgeting for monthly bills, the more ways you can find to save, the better. And what could be better than saving money when you spend money on everyday necessities?

When it comes to grocery shopping, Kroger already makes it easy to save by offering low prices and great deals, and they help you save even more with their Kroger Fuel Saver Rewards Program!  And what better time to save on gas than summertime, when you are heading off on vacation!  If you haven’t heard of this program, you really need to check it out!

With the Fuel Rewards program each time you shop at Kroger and purchase qualified items  (groceries, gift cards and prescriptions), you will earn points which can then be used towards discounts on fuel at Kroger stations and participating Shell stations.  The more you spend, the more you can save at the pumps!

Here’s how it works:

  • for every $1 you spend on groceries (before coupons!) you will get 1 fuel point
  • for Gift Card purchases you will get double fuel points. For example, $25 in Gift Cards = 50 fuel points.(excludes Kroger and Kroger Family of Stores Gift Cards, Green Dot prepaid reloadable products, MoneyPaks, American Express Variable Load Gift Cards, Visa Variable Load Gift Cards, and MasterCard Variable Load Gift Cards)
  • for every one Non-Federally funded prescription, you will get 50 fuel points.  For every Federally funded prescription, you will earn 1 point for every out-of-pocket dollar you spend towards the prescription.

Your current point balance will be printed on the bottom of your Kroger receipt, and can also be checked online at your Kroger Page or by using the Kroger Mobile app on your iPhone or Android device.  There is no limit to how many fuel points you can earn, and depending on whether you choose Kroger or participating Shell gas stations, you can save anywhere from 10¢ per gallon of gas up to $1 per gallon!

At Kroger stations, for each increment of 100 points you redeem at the pump, you will receive 10¢ up to $1 off per gallon. For example:

Use 100 points, get 10¢ off per gallon of fuel for 1 fill up (35 gallon limit)

Use 200 points, get 20¢ off per gallon of fuel for 1 fill up (35 gallon limit)

Use 1000 points, get $1 off per gallon of fuel for 1 fill up (35 gallon limit)

To redeem you simply scan your Plus Card under the card scan or key in your Alt-Id on the key pad. After presenting form of payment, you will be asked how you would like your discount applied if you have more than 100 points in either this month’s balance or last month’s balance.

At participating Shell stations,  you can redeem 100 fuel points for a 10¢ per gallon saving up to a maximum of 35 gallons of fuel on a single purchase

100 fuel points = 10¢ per gallon of fuel for 1 fill-up at participating Shell Stations.

Please note: you cannot select your discount at participating Shell stations, you can only use 100 fuel points at a time.

If paying inside, be sure to see the cashier BEFORE inserting your Kroger Plus Card.  If paying outside, BEFORE you insert your payment card, follow the screen prompts to initiate the Kroger discount process. Insert your Kroger Plus Card, or manually enter your alternate ID or your Kroger Plus Card number found on the back of your Kroger Plus Card, your 1-2-3 REWARDS® Visa® Card or key fob. Select your form of payment and fuel grade, and fill ‘er up!

Here’s a money-saving tip to help you increase your savings if using a Shell station.  Since you can earn points for purchasing gift cards at Kroger, while you are there buy the Shell gift cards, and then head to the pump at your local participating Shell station and reap the rewards.

What Happens to Any Leftover Points?

Any additional points left on your card will remain until the next time you go to the pump.  You can continue to add to the balance each time you shop at Kroger following the guidelines outlined above.  Do note, points will not combine across the months, any points earned in a given calendar month will only be available through the end of the next calendar month.

What If I Don’t Want To Use My Points Yet or I Only Want To Use A Portion?

If you need gas, but are not ready to use your points or you just want to use a certain amount, no problem! At the Kroger pumps, if you have fuel saver rewards points when you scan your card at the pump you will be asked if you want to use your points on this purchase.

You will also be given the option to change the amount you want to use. This is a great feature if you want to hang on to some of your points for use at a later date, or if you are just getting a small amount of gas and prefer to save your discount for a later fill up!

The Fine Print

Credit and debit card fraud prevention policies may limit transactions at the dispenser. Offer cannot be combined with any other discounts. Fuel points earned in a given month are available for use through the end of the following calendar month. Points do not combine across months.
