Recipe Tips and Tricks:
Tender Beef: Make sure to slice the beef thinly and against the grain for maximum tenderness.
Sauce Consistency: If you prefer a thicker sauce, add a bit more cornstarch. For a thinner sauce, add a little more water.
Recipe Variations, Additions, and Substitutions:
- Protein Substitution: Swap the beef with chicken, shrimp, pork, or tofu for a different take on this recipe.
- Vegetable Variations: Feel free to add other vegetables like bell peppers or broccoli for added color and nutrition.
- Spice it Up: Add a pinch of red pepper flakes or a drizzle of sriracha if you like a bit of heat.

What Other Beef Can I Use Instead of Flank Steak?
If you’re looking for alternatives to flank steak, you can use sirloin, skirt steak, hanger steak, flat iron, or even tri-tip. Just be mindful with tri-tip—it’s delicious but can quickly turn tough if overcooked.
Can I make this dish ahead of time?
I find this dish tastes best when made right before you’re ready to serve it. The flavors are freshest, and with how fast it comes together—as quickly as 15 minutes from start to finish—it’s easy to whip up even on a busy night!
Can I Store Leftovers?
While this dish is best served fresh, you can store leftovers in an airtight container overnight. However, the veggies may be a bit mushy. Reheat in a skillet or microwave before serving. I find that if it store it on top of rice and then reheat together, it’s a bit better.
