Not much beats curling up with a steaming mug of hot cocoa and spending the evening relaxing on a cold, dark night! It’s one of my favorite things to do during the winter months.
And while my homemade hot chocolate is always a favorite for filling that mug, this year my delicious White Hot Chocolate recipe has become a favorite, too!
Made with Organic Valley Grass Fed Milk, white chocolate chips, vanilla extract and a tiny pinch of salt (optional), this easy white hot chocolate recipe is proof that you don’t need expensive ingredients and complicated steps to make a delicious drink recipe!
WHY DID I CHOOSE ORGANIC VALLEY MILK?
My family has always enjoyed milk whether we’re drinking a nice cold glass with our favorite cookies, eating a bowl of cereal, or using it to bake a cake.
For the longest time, when at the grocery, I’d grab a gallon of milk concerned only with whether I was selecting skim, low fat or whole milk. Like most people, I figured that all milk was the same.
It wasn’t until I learned that most of the major milk brands add things like artificial hormones, antibiotics, GMOs, artificial fillers and even pesticides to their milk, that I began looking for a better option and made the switch to Organic Valley.
With 13 essential nutrients, Organic Valley Milk contains no toxic pesticides, antibiotics, synthetic hormones, or GMOs, and no added artificial ingredients or fillers. In fact, their certified organic milk goes through 57 separate quality checks to ensure that you and your family are getting only the best, most delicious milk.
Best of all, Organic Valley is a farmer-owned cooperative not a cooporation. This means that nearly 1800 small organic family farms that are part of the cooperative also own the business. These farmers insist on raising food in a way that takes care of their families and yours; as well as their animals and the earth.
Rich, creamy, and versatile, certified organic Organic Valley Grass Fed Milk is the perfect addition to this white hot chocolate recipe! So let’s make it!

WHITE HOT CHOCOLATE VARIATIONS
This recipe is delicious as-is, but sometimes it’s fun to change things up with these tasty variations!
- Try adding ⅛ to ¼ teaspoon of peppermint extract to make a Peppermint White Hot Chocolate. Don’t forget to garnish it with either with a mini candy cane or line the rim with crushed peppermint candy!
- Make it an adult-only treat by adding a splash of peppermint schnapps for a spiked Peppermint White Hot Chocolate.
- Add a generous splash of Bailey’s Irish Cream for another adult-only spiked white hot chocolate version.
- Consider adding a splash of Rumchata gives this white hot chocolate a light cinnamon and vanilla flavor. Mmmmm!
HOW TO MAKE WHITE HOT CHOCOLATE AHEAD OF TIME
To make this toasty treat ahead of time, follow the instructions accordingly, then let the white hot chocolate cool entirely.
Next, place it in an airtight container and place it in the firdge for up to two to three days. The white hot chocolate will become hard in the refrigerator so don’t worry once it does.
When ready to serve, you will want to warm it up slowly and carefully bring it to a low simmer until heated through without letting it boil. Then remove it from the heat quickly and serve.
