UPDATE 2019: As an update on mine, I am 2 weeks shy of having been using it for 2 years, and I have had no issues other than having to figure out how it worked due to poor instructions. I have added another paragraph below with some very basic use instructions that I hope will help out! Happy reading!
If you, like me, live in an apartment or a home with a small kitchen, then trying to find space for all of your small appliances such as your microwave, coffee maker, steamer, slow cooker and so on is a literal nightmare!
And if you have little time for cooking due to work, kids and caring for the home, then finding an appliance that saves time while still making delicious food is like a blessing!
So, when I was offered the opportunity to review the 6-in-1 Multi-Cooker by New Wave Kitchen Appliances, I was hoping that many of my counter space issues, as well as some time issues, could be solved!
New to the US, New Wave Appliances is an Australian-based company who for 8 years now has been making best-selling modern appliances that use the latest technology to help you cook healthy meals easier and faster.
Their innovative 6-in-1 multi-Cooker is only one example of their innovative products. The Multi-Cooker is actually a Slow Cooker, Pressure Cooker, Deep Fryer, Soup//Rice Maker, Steam Cooker and a Saute/Browner, all in one convenient cooking appliance.
At first, I was a bit skeptical about how well it would work, but after using each function several times, I am in love!
The 6-in-1 Multi-Cooker has a modern design with a digital control panel and a sleek, black finish that looks great with any color scheme. It has a 6 liter capacity, and features 2 different pressure levels (high and low), a pre-set timer, a digital timer with countdown function and a Keep Warm function that automatically switches on once it is finished cooking.
It comes with a removable, non-stick inner bowl, a wire frying basket, a steam rack and a even a cheap measuring cup and ladle. But one of the best parts is, it takes up no more counter space than your average sized slow cooker!
Browning – this function is ideal for starting for starting your recipes when sauteing, browning or shallow frying is required. For example, when making chili, you can saute your veggies and brown the meat, then when ready, add the remaining ingredients and set it to slow cook throughout the course of the day!
Slow Cook – this is one of my favorite functions and there are literally hundreds of different recipes you can easily throw together, set the timer and leave it be while you go about your business around the house. I love that it has a delayed timing start of up to 9.5 hours, a slow cooking time of up to 9.5 hours and will automatically switch to a Keep Warm function once cooking is completed.
Rice Cooker – this function is perfect for cooking steamed rice and risotto, as well as soups and broths. I love how easy it is to make steamed rice like you can get at Chinese restaurants! Just add the rice, the water and set to cook for about 7 minutes and you get perfectly steamed rice every time!
Steam Cooker – another favorite setting, this is perfect for making steamed veggies and so much more. All you have to do is set the proper amount of time, then add your desired liquid, your steam rack and your favorite food, and press the start button. The pressure limiting valve is located on top of the lid, and is easy to set with the twist of the knob.
Pressure Cooking – This was actually my first experience with using a pressure cooker, and it was much easier than I thought. A handy guide for First Timers is included inside the Users Manual that tells you the best meats for pressure cooking and shows the recommended pressure setting and the cooking times.
Maxi Cooking or Deep Fryer – the absolutely best way to make crispy, homemade french fries and true Southern Fried Chicken! The unit comes with a wire basket with handle, so you just place the basket in the unit, fill the unit to the correct level with your oil, then press the Maxi Cook button.
As I mentioned above, a Users Guide is included with the Multi-Cooker that features instructions for each individual function, along with handy tips for first time users. Unfortunately, the Users Guide is not very detailed in certain areas and leaves a lot to be figured out. Because of this, and some reader comments, I am including some tips for very basic use:
- to turn the machine one, simply plug it in. The entire panel should light up blue, and you will here a beep.
- use the MultiFunction button to select between Saute/Brown, Slow Cook, Rice and Steam. Which ever function you choose will be illuminated, although you have to look close to see it as the rest of the panel is illuminated, too, which can make it hard to see which function is selected.
- once you have your cooking method selected, adjust the cooking time in minutes by pressing the + and – buttons
- hit the Start/Cancel button one time to start or twice to cancel.
- to use it as a pressure cooker, close the lid, turn the pressure valve on top to sealed, select either the High Pressure button or the Low Pressure Button. Adjust your time using the +arrow button, then hit start. While the machine is warming up, the first double-digit marquee will flash on the screen. Once it reaches the correct pressure, the screen will display 00: and then the cooking time will begin to count down. Once cooking is finished, release the pressure by turning the valve to exhaust.
*Pressure Limiting Valve – this valve is designed to sit loosely on the lid of your 6 in 1 appliance. It will rotate 360 degrees and will not lock into place when placed into position. The valve will tighten during the cooking process and then once the pressure is released from cooking will return to a loose valve fitting.**Remember it is recommended that you use one of the other functions first (e.g. Brown to start off your recipe) which will allow the Multi-Cooker to heat the food throughout and will speed up the pressure cooking time.
-
to use the MaxiCook function, select the button and hit start.
The unit also comes with a small recipe book that has some simple and delicious recipes!
Lost your User Manual? Or want an updated version? I found this link for an online one: https://assets.kogan.com/files/usermanuals/6-in-1_multi-cooker_manual_update.pdf
I love the versatility and convenience of this 6-in-1 Multi-Cooker. I can cook hundreds of delicious meals with just a few quick steps and the simple push of a button. Having this Multi-Cooker has allowed me to expand my cooking expertise and try things I have not been able to before. And I love that it takes up no more than just a few inches of counter space!

Hi Nermeen, The only thing I can think of is to contact their customer service department. Here is a link to that page, where there is a form you can fill out. https://nwka.com.au/support.html Also, if you look on the homepage of their site, scroll to the very bottom, and there is someone's email on there you could perhaps use if the form doesn't help. https://www.nwka.com.au/ I hope you are able to get the part. Have a great day!

Unfortunately these have terrible ratings, very inconsistent. It either works great or gives you tons of problems. I got one myself, used once (all was great) but 2nd time around got an error code E4 and nothing would happen after this, can't use it. Over the 1 yr warranty period, no receipt and tons of ppl all over the web having same issues with error code. Sadly, waste of $$ really wanted to like it.

I had trouble at first figuring out how mine worked as the directions were not the best, but I still love my multi-cooker! Enjoy! Alaina

Hi Stanley, I was not impressed with the instruction manual at all. I tinkered with mine until I figured it out. The best way I know to describe it to you is that you need to squeeze the non-user end of the handle together until you can pop it into the slots on the side of the basket. I hope that helps somewhat.
