2014 Valentine’s Day Gift Guide

With the new year came a new resolution for myself – put down the sodas and pick up the water! Unfortunately, I do not much care for the taste of our tap water here, and buying case after case of bottled water will add up big time – not to mention I’d be adding to the 38 billion disposable water bottles thrown away every year in the U.S!  So when the makers of bobble offered me the opportunity to try one of their innovative bottles, I jumped at the chance!

The bobble is a reusable, self-filtering water bottle that makes having clean filtered water where ever you go a cinch. Each bobble is made from recycled PET, is completely recycleable, and is PVC-free, BPA-free, and phthalate-free. Plus, a bobble water bottle offers a sustainable solution to the waste created by the disposal of single-use, plastic water bottles.

Bobble water bottles are available in several styles. The Original bobble (the one I received) comes in two sizes, 18.5 ounces and 34 ounces. It is clear in color and has a clear cap that fits over the filter/lid. Similar to the original is the carry cap bobble which is available in the same sizes as the original, but has a cap with a loop that doubles as a handle. The caps are made of a soft material and are available in several bright colors that match the filters. Then there is the Sport bobble which holds 24 ounces and comes in a variety of bold and bright colors.

The uniquely designed filters are carbon activated and not only remove chlorine and other organic impurities from traditional tap water, but each one meets or exceeds the NSF International Standard 42 for chlorine, taste and odor reduction! One filter will work at peak capacity for approximately two months (or filter around forty gallons of water) before it is time to replace it. If you do the math, this equates to one filter replacing 300 single-use water bottles! Imagine the impact you can make in one year! The filters are one-size-fits all, and are available in several fun colors such as pink, green, lavender and others.

I feel in love with my bobble as soon as I tried it, from the actual shape of the bottle – which is similar to an hourglass and fits comfortably in my hand – to the cool, clean and crisp taste of the filtered water. I also like how the cap (which is actually part of the filter) easily lifts up when you are ready for a sip, then to close it you just push down on it. It also does not leak at all, even when I turn it completely upside down.

My absolute favorite thing about the bobble water bottle? A bobble will cost between $9.99 and $12.99 depending on the size and style, and it comes with your first filter. After that, a new filter will run you around $6.99 every two months. A case of bottled water costs anywhere from $3.99 to $5.99 and will last maybe one week…you do the math!  Healthy, eco-friendly and affordable – what more could I want??

For a short while, they are unable to process orders through the website, but bobbles are sold in many stores around the world including Target, Walgreens, Amazon, Bloomingdale’s, Best Buy Publix, Earth Fare and many more! You can find a complete list of retailers on the bobble website.

Be sure to connect with bobble on both Facebook and Twitter to keep up with the latest deals, promotions and more!

I keep a pitcher of water by me wherever I am and make sure that I refill it at least once a day. That way I know I am getting a gallon in me daily!

Hello Alaina, nice article! As we see it is really important to know how to keep the nature around us as much chemical free as we can. As part of it, it is important to know how to recycle all that trash that humanity is producing. For those of you, who live in Vancouver, here is a link to a trash removal company. These guys were really helpful to me, when I was moving out of my old house and had a huge collection of trash, which I didn't know what to do with. They know how to recycle it and help us keep the world cleaner.
