As I mentioned in my previous post, I love a comfy bed, and another bedding item that really affects how well I sleep is the pillow. When it comes to finding the perfect pillow, there are all types of things to consider such as the type of fill – feather, foam, down, memory foam, gel – the level of support – firm, soft, medium, and even the style – contour pillow, neck pillow, bed pillow, and so on. This can make finding your ideal pillow quite the challenge. Having been in a car accident which injured my neck, I need a pillow that gives support, but I want one that is not so firm that it feels flat and hard, nor do I want it to be so soft and fluffy that my head is elevated to where I am practically sitting up in bed. And if that isn’t picky enough for you, I also want a pillow that does not get overly hot. I cannot tell you how many times I flip my pillow over throughout the night, always seeking the coolest spot. So when Comfort Revolution offered me the opportunity to review their amazing Hydraluxe Cooling Pillow, I was all over it!

Comfort Revolution is well-known for their unique and innovative bedding products. You may be familiar with those egg crate foam mattress pads and the memory foam mattress pads – the founder of Comfort Revolution was the one who first created those items for retail, so it stands to reason that these people know what they are doing when it comes to comfortable bedding products for a good night’s sleep! They make all kinds of pillows, mattresses, mattress toppers, mattress pads and more.

One of their most recent creative innovations is their Hydraluxe Gel technology which features a layer of cooling gel over their unique memory foam to provide a cool and comfortable sleep experience. They took this technology and created the Hydraluxe Cooling Pillow. In 2011, an independent study found that the Comfort Revolution Hydraluxe Cooling Pillow slept significantly cooler than other sample pillows tested – and there were many types of pillows tested. It also remained cooler than the rest for a longer amount of time throughout the night.

I received the Cool Cerulean Bubbles Hydraluxe Bed Pillow and as soon as it arrived, I could not wait to lay my head down on it and sleep. The first thing I noticed was the weight – it is much heavier than I was expecting it to be. The second thing I noticed was the smell. Thankfully I saw the part that said these pillows will have a smell when you first open them and that the fumes are non-toxic or otherwise harmful. Following instructions, I removed the pillow from its extra-soft mesh case, and let it air out for a couple of days before I used it.

Finally the day (night) came where I took the pillow into our room and climbed into bed. As soon as my head hit the pillow it sank gently down into it and within a few minutes I could feel the coolness. At first I was afraid that it was going to be more firm than I preferred, but I stuck with it. I could already tell it was providing great support for my head and neck, and after a few days of use, it softened up a bit more to where I now love it!  It really does stay much cooler than other types of pillows I have used, and I am no longer waking up and flipping my pillow over and over all night long. I also notice a marked difference in how comfortable I am and how well I sleep.

The only issue I have is that I tend to sleep on my back more often than I do my side, so I probably should have gotten the contour pillow. I do plan on getting one of the contour pillows one day, and will give my husband this one since he sleeps more often on his side, and because we often wind up taking turns using this one since it is so comfy!

The Hydraluxe Cooling Pillow is available in two different styles, contour pillow or bed pillow, with your choice of pattern for the layer of gel such as bubbles or waves. There are also several colors from which you can choose including Frosted Pink, Cool Cerulean Blue (aff. link), Glacier Green and Icy Violet. All of the pillows come in standard size, which measures about 16″ x 24″ x 5″. However, according to the website, more sizes are coming out eventually. The premium mesh cover that comes with the pillow is silky soft, and can easily be removed and washed. The Hydraluxe Cooling Pillow will fit in a standard size pillow case if you choose, but this will cut down on the amount of coolness you can feel unless is it a very thin case.

Here’s some great news, now you can get the Hydraluxe technology in a mattress pad! I bet that pad is the epitome of comfort!
