Make Sure It Is Comfortable

First things first. If your bedroom isn’t comfortable, then there is no way you will get a good night’s sleep! Investing in a good quality mattress is the first step in achieving this. Speak to a mattress shop like Simmons mattress about the various types that are available. Some shops will give you the option to test one in your home for thirty days. If you don’t have any aches or back pains after this time period, then it could be the right one for you! Bed Linen is also very important. Choose natural fabrics and materials that you feel super cozy in.

Dim The Lights

If we are exposed to too much light, our melatonin levels will decrease. What is melatonin? It’s a hormone that helps us fall asleep and wake up. We need a lot of it to go to sleep. So for an hour or two before bed, reduce your exposure to light. This will help increase your body’s levels of the hormone, making it easier for you to fall asleep. If you have dimmer lights, you should turn them down to their lowest setting. If you don’t, just close the drapes and turn on a soft lamp.

No TV And Computers

The bright light from the screens of TVs and Computers will also cause your melatonin levels to fall. So you shouldn’t use any of these electrical devices for at least an hour before you go to bed. It’s a great idea to ban all TVs and Computers from your bedroom. You don’t need them in there, after all. If you want some entertainment right before you turn the light off, you could read a book or magazine. Or spend the time learning a new craft, like sewing!

No Disturbances

You need to make sure there aren’t any things in your bedroom that can disturb your sleep. Remove any electronic appliances or devices that could be causing noise. If you have the money, it could be worth soundproofing your bedroom so you can get the ultimate night’s sleep. Buy some black-out blinds so no light from street lamps or cars will get into your room either. As light and noise are the two largest disturbances to sleep, it is important to try to completely reduce them.

Don’t forget your favorite teddy bear either!

Hopefully, once you turn your bedroom into a sleep-friendly environment you will find it much easier to relax, and the quality of your sleep will improve greatly!
