Although sweat is often considered gross and unsightly, sweating is actually good for our bodies. It is the body’s natural way of releasing toxins through the skin. There are also about two to four million sweat glands working in the body as a coolant to help protect it from overheating. Moderation is always key, however, and no one wants to sweat too much. Here are some basic foods to help you stop sweating.
Water
One of the first foods to help you stop sweating is water. You probably know that drinking water is great for your health, but did you know you’re supposed to drink eight glasses a day? Water keeps your body hydrated so it doesn’t have to work so hard to regulate your body temperature. Less work for a regulated temperature means less sweat.
Calcium
Calcium-rich foods also help your body regulate its temperature. They pump your body up with amino acids so it doesn’t have to work so hard. If you are going to add more calcium to your diet with foods like cheese and dairy, make sure you stick with low-fat options as too much bad fat can increase your sweating.
Fruits and veggies
Fruits and veggies are other foods to help you stop sweating. These foods are typically vitamin rich and packed with water, so they aid in digestion, keep you slim, and keep you hydrated. All of these properties help reduce sweating.
Olive oil
This may be the first surprising item on the list of foods to help you stop sweating, but olive oil can actually help decrease sweating. Olive oil does wonders for the metabolism and digestive system. It makes the digestive process much easier so the body does not have to work as hard. As stated, less work means less stress. Replacing vegetable oil with olive oil will also help you gain a more healthy blood pressure and lower cholesterol. Plus it makes food, like these Chicken & Vegetable Kabobs, taste great!
Vitamins
Vitamins work on your body like high-quality fuel works on your car. B-Vitamins help your body carry out critical metabolic functions and inter-nerve communication that keeps things running smoothly. When you don’t get this vitamin, your body has to work much harder, causing excessive sweating.
Excessive sweating often times is a clinical condition that requires treatment, but eating these foods to help you stop sweating may just work!
