Love it? Pls Share it!

When spring arrives it’s a great time to start afresh, and a big part of that is cleaning your home. Not only does Spring Cleaning make you feel good when you are done, it is also a great way to help keep your home pest free.

Here are several useful tips on what actions to take as part of your spring cleaning, one of which is getting some help from the experts.

spring cleaning

Where should you start with your spring cleaning?

There is no hard and fast rule when it comes to spring cleaning your home, but the kitchen often makes an excellent starting point. You may feel that you keep your kitchen generally clean anyway; but do you regularly clean out every cabinet, and the tops of those cabinets? And what about those places that are simply being used as storage areas for items you rarely use?

When you are deep cleaning it’s an excellent time to check out all of those out-of-the-way corners, and to dispose of out of date food, as well as those dishes and containers you just don’t use.

You should then clean the entire area with kitchen cleanser, and make sure all trash is disposed of straight away. Not only will your kitchen be pristine, but it will be a lot more organized and easier to keep clean.

What about the rest of your home?

Closets can make a nice warm home environment for insects such as moths. Make sure you completely empty all of your closets, dispose of any items you no longer use, and check all clothes and bedding for sign of infestation. It’s also a good idea to wash these items too, just to make sure. Then, before putting those items back into the closets, scrub out the closets themselves with bleach.

Bathrooms can be a haven for insects such as cockroaches, many of which come in through the drains. Always check for any leaks in the area which need to be dealt with as soon as possible in order to prevent issues with moisture. You should, of course, also make sure that your bathroom is kept clean, and that you regularly pour bleach down the drains to help prevent insect invasion.

Protecting your home from pest invasion

There are some things that you can do outside, as part of your spring cleaning, which can help deter pests from entering your home. Take a look around outside your home and see if there are any of these areas that might need attention:

  • Cracks and holes in walls and doors that need filling
  • Trees and bushes that could shed their leaves next to your home and cause moisture to build up
  • Water left standing, that could provide a breeding ground for mosquitoes

Getting some preventative help
Once you have finished spring cleaning your home, it’s a good idea to speak to the experts about getting some preventative pest control carried out. This normally all takes place outside of your home, and can help stop pests from entering the premises in the first place. This can help save a lot of time, money and worry in the long run.
