Arm & Hammer Clump & Seal Naturals – A Better Way to Control Mess and Odor!
Any family that has a cat will tell you that humans are not the only beings picky about their pet’s litter box. Cats themselves are very clean animals, and a dirty, smelly litter box is not appreciated. In worst cases, some cats will stop using their box and start using your floors and furniture instead. And keeping that box clean isn’t the only deterrent either. Cats are finicky creatures, and that pickiness can be reflected in the type litter you use, too. Therefore, a lot is depending on you keeping that box clean and using a cat litter your cat likes.
Over the years we have tried several brands and types of litter. We all agree that a scoopable litter is the type we prefer, and while we have found one that we can deal with, I am still looking for that perfect litter. One that completely controls odor, doesn’t leave tiny broken off clumps you can’t pick up, and doesn’t stick to paws so much. Sookie has this odd habit – game? – of bolting out of her litter box the second she is finished like she is at the starting line of the Kentucky Derby and the gun has fired. As a result, tiny granules of litter go flying everywhere, regardless of the mat beneath her box. So when I heard about Arm & Hammer (one of our preferred cat litter brands) Clump & Seal Naturals, I decided to give it a try!
Arm & Hammer Clump & Seal Naturals Cat Litter
The Arm & Hammer Clump & Seal line of cat litter contains these tiny moisture-activated granules that form a tight seal around cat waste, while its powerful odor eliminators plus ARM & HAMMER™ Baking Soda destroy odors on contact. The line contains several different varieties, one of which is the Arm & Hammer Clump & Seal Naturals. This cat litter is made with natural wood fibers, plant-based clumping agents, minerals and baking soda, and is designed to keep your home odor-free for seven days (guaranteed!).
Honestly, at first I was a bit hesitant about using another ‘natural’ cat litter. We had tried a few different brands over the past year or so, and either Sookie or my husband and I did not approve for one reason or another. Some litters didn’t clump, others didn’t control odor and still others were made out of materials that our cat did not like. Still, knowing that Sookie likes most Arm & Hammer scoopable litters, I decided to go ahead and give it a try. Now, I am glad I did …and so is Sookie!
The first thing I noticed when adding it to her clean litter box, was the absolute lack of dust. That right there earned a big plus from me! I cannot stand getting a face full of dust when adding new litter to a cat box. And I can’t imagine that cats like it either, especially when they go to cover their waste!
The second thing I noticed was the texture of the litter. It actually resembles most other scoopable litters, except the sand-like granules are smaller and much darker in color. Sookie really seems to like the smaller grains and the softer texture, and I love that it stick to her paws and go all over the place when she steps – aka races – out of her box! I’m not going to lie and say that not one single granule stuck to her paws, but the amount was much, much less!
Speaking of those granules, Clump & Seal is the perfect name of this litter as it clumps great! One thing I can not stand about most scoopable litters is how the clumps begin to fall apart. Then, when you go to clean the litter box, those tiny broken off clumps sift right through the cat litter scoop. Over time those tiny clumps begin to add up, and you wind up having to dump the litter sooner than you prefer. With Arm & Hammer Clump & Seal Naturals, I haven’t had that problem at all.
Last, but not least, is the odor control. Some cats cannot stand scented litter, and if yours is one, you may want to try one of Arm & Hammer’s unscented litters because this one has a very noticeable scent. It’s not that it is an unpleasant scent, and it keeps the room smelling fresh, but it is definitely strong. Now as far as odor control, the litter does exactly as advertised and controls it – not masks, but controls. However, as far as the seven day claim, I clean the box daily so I cannot honestly say whether or not it lasts that long.
Overall, Sookie gives this litter 4.5 cat paws out of 5 (she even loved it while in the bag, too). I am hoping they will come out with an unscented Clump & Seal Naturals soon, but until they do so, we are definitely happy using it! Other than the strong scent, I definitely think Arm & Hammer Clump & Seal Naturals is worth getting a box to see if your cats like it (there’s a coupon at the bottom of this post).

Hi Amy, I haven't been able to find this exact version either! I am so disappointed. I can find the other types, but not this specific one. I usually find them at Target or through Amazon. And they work pretty good. However, if I find it, I'll come back here and leave you another comment letting you know where.
