Bell Lifestyle Products Review Sound Sleep No. 23

Love it? Pls Share it!

belllogoAre you one of those people who have trouble sleeping?  Either falling asleep or staying asleep? I am. I cannot even begin to tell you how many nights I lay awake reading until the wee hours of the morning waiting for sleep to come. And once I am lucky to doze off, I wake right back up within an hour or two, and begin the whole routine again.  And while there are plenty of prescription and over-the-counter sleep aids, I do not want to use a non-natural product to help me sleep, especially since so many are habit-forming and leave you feeling groggy in the morning.

As a blogger for, I was recently offered the opportunity to try an herbal sleep remedy made by Bell Lifestyle Products, being that it is an all-natural product, I decided to give it a try.

Bell is well-known for their all-natural, herbal blends. Formed in 1996, they now offer over 50 herbal products for everything from joint support to headache remedies.  I was sent a bottle of their Sound Sleep #23 (formerly known as Snoring and Sleep Apnea Eze) which is one of their Top 10 Best Selling products. Sound Sleep #23 is a blend of a naturally occurring chemical in the body and soothing, sedating natural herbs, each of which has its own relaxing, sleep-inducing effect.

How Bell Sound Sleep #23 Works

Sound Sleep #23 starts with melatonin which is a chemical that originates in the pineal gland near the center of the brain, and has been shown to help induce sleep faster, promote deeper sleep and promote a more refreshed, alert state of mind upon awakening.  Melatonin is most actively produced in darkness and its production is significantly reduced in light. Research and studies suggest that there is a strong correlation between melatonin production and the body’s circadian sleep rhythm.

The all-natural herbs combined with melatonin in Sound Sleep #23 include:

  • Chamomile: has been shown to promote tranquility, support a calm, relaxed mood at bedtime, benefit sleep patterns and enhance daytime functioning.
  • Passion flower:  has long been used as a mild sedative. Research suggests that low-levels may promote better sleep in adults who suffer from occasional interrupted sleep patterns.
  • Skullcap: used by Native Americans to enhance relaxation, skullcap has been shown to be calming and promote restful, refreshing and rejuvenating sleep.
  • Valerian: Valerian root has been known for thousands of years as a calming herb. Researchers suggest that its soothing and calming properties can help improve sleep quality, especially in menopausal women.
  • MSM: Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) is an organic sulfur that has been shown to help promote faster recovery from physical fatigue. It was included in this formula to help you wake up easily and leave grogginess behind quickly.

My Review of Bell Sound Sleep #23

Let me begin by saying that I was extremely skeptical about this product. Not only about its ability to help me fall asleep and stay asleep, but also its claim that I would wake up in the morning without feeling drugged or groggy.

I began taking Sound Sleep #23 around 4 weeks ago.  As suggested, I began by taking 4 capsules about an hour before I went to bed.  The capsules are not terribly large, maybe about 5/8″ in length, and are quite easy to swallow.

However, when you open the bottle, be prepared for a very strong, and not very pleasant, scent! Following the included sleep instructions, I did my best not to lie on my back which can promote snoring and aggravate sleep apnea, but instead slept on my side.

Since my usual habit is to get in bed and immediately start reading, I had to make myself leave my book alone and lay there. Without the book I was fully expecting to lay there for quite a while, listening to the thoughts in my head and my husband’s occasional snores and snorts. To my surprise, I hardly remember falling asleep!

According to my husband, I was out within 15 minutes;  that is pretty close to amazing! He also mentioned that there was no snoring on my part as he claims there usually is once I do finally sleep – however, I am positive it is not me he is hearing snore, but himself!  Men, honestly! Geesh!

When my alarm went off the next morning, I was shocked to realize I had actually slept through the night! And better yet, once I got up and got moving, there was no groggy or drugged feeling at all. Bell Sound Sleep #23 actually worked!

Being the skeptic I am, I wanted to use it again the next night just to be sure I wasn’t experiencing an anomaly!  Sure enough, a restful night’s sleep occurred again that night, and the next and the next. After a few days I cut down to 2 capsules and found they still worked great! Even my husband has used them with the same positive results.
