Whether you’re serving it as a Hanukkah cocktail, a Christmas cocktail, or for a New Year’s Eve celebration, the Blue Glacier Holiday Cocktail is a fun and fruity way to add a splash of warmth to any winter celebration.
When the weather outside is frightful, there’s nothing quite like a winter cocktail to cheer you up. Especially when that cocktail is my Blue Glacier holiday cocktail!
This beautiful blue holiday cocktail may look icy cold and wintery, but it tastes like a vacation in the islands. And that makes this jewel-toned winter cocktail the best of both worlds!
BLUE COCKTAIL FOR WINTER HOLIDAYS
Whether you’re serving it for one of the 8 crazy nights of Hanukkah, at a Christmas gathering, for a New Year’s Eve party, or simply relaxing with family and friends around the fire, this icy blue libation is sure to be the talk of any snowy-weather gathering.
This blue holiday cocktail actually has a nice citrusy flavor that makes it really refreshing. And while the combination of White Rum (or vodka) and Blue Curacao could definitely be served year-round due to its fruity flavor, it’s the ice blue color that makes this cocktail perfect for a winter holiday party!
ABOUT THE BLUE GLACIER HOLIDAY COCKTAIL
The brilliant blue color of this holiday cocktail reminds me of the glaciers in Alaska and its white sugar-lined rim is reminiscent of freshly fallen snow. Hence it’s name, the Blue Glacier.
HOW TO MAKE THIS HOLIDAY COCKTAIL RECIPE
This holiday cocktail is as easy to make as it is delicious! Made with four simple ingredients, and some sugar for the glass’ rim, it takes less than 5 minutes to make from start to finish.
You’ll find the complete ingredient list and instructions in the printable recipe card near the end of this Winter cocktail recipe post.

INGREDIENTS IN THE COCKTAIL
In addition to being easy-to-make, this blue cocktail recipe calls for only five ingredients, total! Those include:
White Rum (or vodka, your choice)
The dominant alcohol in this cocktail. You can use either white rum or vodka. My personal favorite is Bacardi Rum, but feel free to use your favorite.
White Cranberrry Juice
Adds a nice tart and fruity flavor with the barest hint of sweetness.
Lime Juice
Fresh-squeezed lime juice enhances this cocktail’s citrusy note. If all you have is bottled juice, that will work, too.
Blue Curacao
Blue Curaçao – gives this drink it’s captivating blue color while adding a pleasant orange taste to its fruity flavor.
Contrasts nicely with the gorgeous blue color of this cocktail, while also adding a hint of sweetness to every sip.
HOLIDAY COCKTAIL RECIPE INSTRUCTIONS
As I mentioned, making this holiday cocktail is very easy!
Step One: Sugar the Rim
You’ll first want to sprinkle sugar onto small plate or saucer. Next, dip or dab the rim of a martini glass with some simple syrup (or another sticky liquid), and then gently roll it in the sanding sugar.
Then lightly shake the glass while it is still upside down to remove any excess sugar.
Step Two: Mix the Drink
In a large cocktail shaker filled with ice, combine the white rum (or vodka), white cranberry juice, blue curacao, and lime juice. Shake for about 20 seconds.
Step Three: Strain
Strain the holiday cocktail into a well-chilled martini glass, taking care not to splash the rim.
And then serve.
Cheers!

Hi Nichol, Yes you can make this a mocktail, just do not add any of the alcohol to the recipe and keep the remaining ingredients measurements the same. So use blue curacao syrup instead of the blue curacao liquor and you will still get the same orangy flavor from it. Then just omit the rum. Enjoy!

How many drinks does the pitcher recipe make?
Alaina Bullock
Monday 11th of December 2023
Hi Danielle! So the pitcher I made was enough to serve 4 to 5 people one good sized drink each with a small amount left. If you are trying to figure out how much to make for a party, the way I do it is add 1 cocktail to the pitcher per person. There is a site called Mix That Drink that has a post titled "Convert Any Cocktail Recipe To Big Batch" that can help you figure out exactly how much you need for a party. Hope that helps!
