Easy Ways to Improve the Look of Your Home
Updating your home doesn’t have to take weeks or months. You can make a big difference to the aesthetics of your interiors and improve the look of your home in just one weekend.
Maybe you’re getting ready for the summer. Or perhaps you’re having guests to stay soon. Or maybe you just think it’s time to refresh things!
Whatever the circumstances, there are a few methods to help you improve the look of your home in just one weekend.
Clean your windows
Dirty, grimy windows can block phenomenally high amounts of light getting in your home. Even if you can’t see much dirt clearly, it will be there. After all, the exteriors of your window are exposed to the elements every day. Even pollution from cars can make your windows dirty, not to mention bird poop and dead bugs. Get your windows cleaned and watch the light flood in!
Deep clean your floors
Hoovering carpets, sweeping wood floors and dusting skirting boards are all great, but when was the last time you gave your floors a really deep clean? Use a steam cleaner to get all of that deep-set grime and dirt out of your carpets. Hire a professional to come in and tend to your real wood floors. Most floors of this nature can withstand being sanded down and then re-polished seven or eight times in their lifetime. This will help lift out dirt in the ridges, and scuff off marks and stains.
A fresh coat of paint
One of the most effective ways to update the whole look of a room is to repaint it! It could be that the color the room currently is is now outdated, or faded. Or maybe it’s just plain ugly! Or perhaps your pale-colored walls are now marred with marks and stains. Whatever the case, fast drying paints mean that you can be done within a weekend. Doing it yourself is an option. However, it may be wiser to hire a house painter to ensure the job is done to a high standard. A professional house painter will probably get the job done quicker than you would yourself. Plus they’ll already have the right tools! You can then dedicate your time to doing the other tasks mentioned on this list.
Update your furnishings
Changing your sofas, tables and TV stand every month would get very expensive, very fast! Instead, you should change up your furnishings. Not only is this much cheaper, but it’s also much easier and quicker! So leave your sofa alone. Add a colored throw to it to add a pop of color. Swap out your current cushion covers for new ones. Consider a color scheme. If you have a gray sofa, a white throw and yellow cushions makes an attractive, sophisticated but also practical solution.
Check your Feng Shui
Don’t dismiss Feng Shui as meaningless. Many of its most basic elements are based more on logic than anything else. Check the rules and then see how your furniture and furnishings match up. Make any changes that appeal to you.
