Instructions for Decorating 4th of July Brownie Bombs
Turning the brownie bites into a festive July 4th dessert is quick and easy. In fact, it’s so easy the kids can help!
Step One: Prep
- Begin by lining a cookie sheet with wax paper and set aside.
Step Two: Drain and Chill Cherries
- Pour the cherries into a strainer to remove excess juice, then transfer to a bowl and chill for 5 minutes (this will help the chocolate to harden almost immediately).
Step Three: Melt Royal Blue Candy Melts
- Next, in a microwave-safe bowl, microwave the royal blue chocolate melts for 45 seconds.
- Stir until completely melted. This Wilton Melting Pot works great for melting the candy, too!
Step Four: Dip
- Once the chocolate is ready, dip one-half of the chilled cherries into the melted chocolate
- Then immediately sprinkle with the red, white, and blue jimmies after each dip.
- Place each dipped cherry on the cookie sheet to harden.

Step Four: Melt Light Blue Candy Melts
- Next, in a microwave-safe bowl, microwave the light blue chocolate melts for 45 seconds. Stir until completely melted.
Step Five: Dip Remaining Cherries
- Dip the remaining cherries into the melted light blue chocolate
- Immediately sprinkle with the red, white, and blue nonpareils.
- Place on the cookie sheet to harden for about 5 minutes.
Step Six: Add Dollop of Icing to Brownie Bites
- Once the chocolate on the cherries has hardened, pipe about 1/2 tablespoon of cookie icing on top of each brownie bite.
- Then place the decorated cherries on top of the icing.
Step Seven: Let Set
- Let the cookie icing harden for about 10 minutes, serve and enjoy!
And there you have it, a delicious treat for your summer patriotic celebrations!

Versatile Dessert Idea
Another thing I love about these fun brownie bombs is that they are incredibly versatile. You can use them for all sorts of celebrations by simply changing the colors of the melted chocolates, jimmies, and nonpareils!
Red and green for Christmas, blue and white for Hanukkah, different shades of pink or blue for baby showers, or even white, gold, and silver for weddings.
