Now that warmer weather is finally here, it’s time to start thinking about Spring and Summer fun! One of the most popular warm weather activities is swimming. Nothing beats submerging yourself in a pool of cool water on a hot sunny day! Unfortunately though, with the increase in activities taking place around water, the number of drowning cases also goes up.

Did you know that drowning is the number one cause of accidental death in children ages 0 – 4? It doesn’t even have to happen in a pool, lake or ocean. It can happen right inside your home in the bathtub, toilet or even a bucket. It is also completely preventable.

One of the best ways to combat this terrible statistic is by teach our children how to swim from a very young age. Yes, believe it or not, infants and toddlers can be taught the skills they need to survive if they ever accidentally fall into the pool, lake or other body of water.

PediaSwim

Created by Joy McGinty, PediaSwim is a swimming program designed to teach young children how to independently survive if they ever fall into the water. She has been using this method to teach babies and toddlers swimming skills since the early 1990’s. The program focuses on teaching a basic, but effective swim-float-swim method that infants and toddlers can use for both survival and fun. In three to five weeks children learn to swim facedown, kicking in the correct posture, then roll into a calm float, then flip back over into a propulsive swim. It’s a perfect rotation of resting and breathing that ensures survival until help arrives.

Become an asset to your community by becoming a PediaSwim Instructor!

If you enjoy working for yourself, swimming, and children, and if you want to make a difference in your community, then consider becoming a PediaSwim Instructor. You don’t have to have any teaching experience or other special skills – you’ll learn everything you need to know during the PediaSwim training course.  Training takes place at SouthWest Aquatics in Winter Garden, Florida, and is approximately 4 weeks of hands-on, in-the-water instruction. The course is taken one-on-one with an instructor, and you will work with young children of all ages teaching them the skills they need to survive in the water. Just look at how much fun the kids in this video are having!

In addition, you will receive instruction in child development, child psychology, child anatomy and physiology. You will also be taught how to open and run your own PediaSwim school, how to market your business, and even how you can offer programs for disadvantaged families. Once you have become a certified instructor, you will be completely in charge of your business, and you will never have to pay PediaSwim any of the money that you earn. It is a wonderful way to make a difference in your community and in children’s lives.
