Deciding we want to get healthier is the first of many steps on the way to a healthy lifestyle. It can seem like a huge obstacle to overcome, but actually, it’s just a series of small life changes that will ultimately culminate in a healthy life. It doesn’t have to happen overnight; it’s a good idea the introduce them slowly so that they stick. Take time to understand what works for you, and do research on the subject. Here are some suggestions for small changes to your life that will have a positive impact on your overall health.

Walk during work breaks
Walk whenever you can, and make time to do it. Walking is a brilliant exercise, and it doesn’t require a whole lot of gear or money to do. In your breaks at work, walk around the block and take the stairs. Get your heart rate up and take in some fresh air, and you’ll find the rest of your workday goes a whole lot smoother.
Use stress-busting techniques
Deep breathing techniques are perfect for busting stress and improving your overall wellbeing. Stress and anxiety can have severe effects on our health, so it’s important that we learn how to cope with them. Try online meditation courses, deep breathing, or yoga to help you overcome any stress you might carry with you.

Stick to healthy snacks
Bags of chips and chocolate can seem like the best snack to give you energy and fill you up, but all you’re doing is making yourself unhealthy, and you’ll end up feeling sluggish as a result. Fruit, vegetable batons, nuts, and seeds are great mid-morning snacks that give you plenty of nutrients and minerals, and won’t slow you down.
Get a good night’s sleep
Have a sleep schedule: go to bed and get up at the same time every night, that way your body will always know to expect it and start to prepare for it. Make sure you have good bedding and a mattress that works for you. Check mattress ratings before you purchase to ensure you find one that suits your needs.
Never shop hungry
If you’ve ever been to the store just before dinner, you’ll know how difficult it is to keep away from the unhealthy purchases. Take a list of what you need and try to stick to it, and make sure you don’t shop hungry. You don’t need huge multipacks of chips, even if your stomach is trying to convince you to the contrary
Drink a glass of water in the morning
Before you do anything else when you wake up, start your day as you mean to go on with a glass of water. Hydration is key to feeling good, which is why we are recommended to drink eight cups a day. You might as well get the first one out of the way before breakfast, and you’ll find that you feel more alert as a result.
Healthy living is all about the little changes you can make to benefit your life overall. You’re more likely to stick with lots of small changes, rather than trying to overhaul your life overnight.

Love the tips for getting healthier, especially walking. Walking is the best exercise for most people and you can walk just about anywhere, even a shopping mall. I drink two glasses of water every morning. At first it seems like a lot, but you get used to it in no time. Never shop hungry and eat before you go to those Christmas parties with all the snacks. Be reasonable on the alcohol . Good ideas!
