Growing up I always had the worst self-image. When I looked in the mirror, all I could see was the parts of my body that I saw/thought of as being fat. I weighed maybe 105. Who was I kidding? Now, as an adult, at 185 pounds on a 5′ 3″ frame, I weigh more than I ever have in my entire life. I look in the mirror and now longer recognize myself. Several weeks ago I decided to get honest with myself. I realized I am extremely unhappy with myself as far as my weight and health is concerned. I began to pay more attention to my health and things really started to hit home when I realized I easily get out of breath, I have aches and pains that I know are related to too much weight on a small-boned frame. And when I began to pull out clothes for warmer weather and realized none of them fit any more, I decided enough is enough. I don’t want to spend my years overweight and unhappy with myself – and I am more than aware that with all of this extra weight my years could be limited. So with all of that in mind I have set a my goal for myself to get rid of this extra weight and get back in shape.
Now, I am not naive and I know that the older one gets the slower their metabolism, so I am not going to be able to lose this weight just by diet alone. Nope, I am going to have to exercise daily. Unfortunately, for me, exercise is pretty much a four letter word, but I am determined to do it and I have been trying to find ways to make it more appealing. So far, one thing I found that really helps is listening to music. Ever since I was a child, I have had a love for music, and for me, the right type of music can be a great motivator! In fact, it has actually been proven that music can significantly reduce your perception of effort and increase your endurance during physical activity. So when I was offered the opportunity to review a pair of lightweight, workout headphones for women made by X-1 Audio, the timing couldn’t have been any better!
X-1 had its beginnings as H2O Audio, a company known for their top-of-the line waterproof, weatherproof and sweatproof headphones, cases and accessories for aquatic athletes. Today they have evolved to X-1, offering the most advanced audio solutions for athletes across all disciplines. Their line of headphones, cases and accessories are made to withstand anything whether it’s running in the rain, sweating in the gym or swimming laps in the pool, all the while providing a comfortable fit and amazing sound.
The X-1 headphones I received are the Women’s Momentum In-Ear Ultra Light Headphones, which are made for use with iPhones and iPods. They are specifically designed to provide a comfortable, secure fit, and are IPX rated I4 which means they are completely weatherproof and sweatproof and are even rinsable under running water. But that’s not all! These headphones also feature an easy-to-reach remote with a built-in microphone that allows you to control volume and playback, place or receive calls, and even activate SIRI. This is perfect for me so I don’t have to stop exercising in order to adjust the volume, replay a favorite song or answer an important call.
I love that these headphones have an extra long, durable and tangle-free cord which makes it easy to place my phone out of the way while still being able to listen to music. It has a small plastic clip on it which I can use to attach the cord to my top or waistband to further keep it out of my way. Plus the same material that makes the cord weatherproof and sweatproof is also retro-reflective, illuminating brightly whenever light hits it, providing a measure of security if out walking or jogging in low light.
As a lover of music, I was extremely pleased to discover that these tiny stereo headphones put out incredibly big and full sound without that tinny, far-away effect or too much treble or bass. I used to despise wearing in-ear headphones because after a short time they’d make my ears hurt around the speaker part, but these headphones came with five different types of tips ensuring I’d find at least one set that I like. I tested each set, and all of them were extremely comfortable, sounded great and stayed securely in place regardless of how much I moved around. Plus, to top it all off, after my workout I can rinse the sweat off these headphones so they are completely clean for the next time I use them!
With a comfortable fit, amazing sound and so many other great features, these workout headphones for women make exercising (for me) much more bearable, almost close to enjoyable! In fact, I am actually starting to look forward to either going on a walk or to our apartment’s exercise room! I just slip my iPhone into the X-1 Women’s Momentum Sport Armband – which not only provides a handy, weatherproof and sweatproof place to keep my phone or iPod while working out, but also comes with an integrated cable management system, a place on the side to wrap the excess headphone cable and a clear cover through which my phone’s touchscreen still works – and I head out towards making myself a slimmer, healthier and happier person!
Whether you are a serious athlete or someone like me who is wanting to get back in shape, I definitely recommend the X-I Women’s Momentum In-Ear Ultra Light Headphones! They are absolutely the best headphones I have come across for working out – small, lightweight and comfortable without sacrificing any sound – and they even come in several bright and fun colors! To get your Women’s Momentum Ultra Light headphones visit X-1 Audio online where you can either find a retailer near you or order directly through their site!

I love listening to music through headphones when I workout. But my last pair broke. I need a new pair.

These are perfect! I need some great headphones for my iPhone at the gym that will resist the sweat! Sweat may stink, but at the gym, it is a GOOD thing!

I try to walk at least a mile each evening. I think I would benefit from listening to music during my daily walk. I would probably push myself harder. These look like excellent earphones. I am going to look into them more. Thanks!

I really cannot workout without music going on in the background. It just gets you moving! Love the review, I'll have to look into these!
