Ingredients You’ll Need

Five simple ingredients – that’s it! Easy, affordable, and absolutely delicious.

  • Keebler Fudge Stripe cookies
  • marshmallows, large
  • chocolate chips
  • yellow melting candy
  • yellow Reese’s Pieces or M&Ms

Step-by-Step Instructions

Ready to get started? Here’s how to turn a few simple ingredients into something deliciously festive.

Step One: Melt the Chocolate

Follow the instructions on the package for melting. If using the microwave, place the chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl. Then heat in 30-second bursts, stirring between each, until smooth and glossy.

Step Two: Prep the Cookies

Lay your Fudge Stripe cookies upside down (chocolate-side up) on a parchment-lined tray. These will be the “brims” of your Pilgrim hats.

Step Three: Dip the Marshmallows

Dip each marshmallow into the melted chocolate using a fork until fully coated. Let the extra chocolate drip off.

Step Four: Assemble the Hats

Gently press each chocolate-covered marshmallow onto the center of a cookie. Repeat until all hats are made — they already look so cute!

Step Five: Chill

Pop the tray into the fridge for 15–20 minutes, or until the chocolate sets and turns nice and firm.

Step Six: Add the Hat Band

Melt the yellow candy per the package directions and transfer it to a piping bag. Snip the tip and pipe a yellow band around each hat base.

Step Seven: Add the Buckle

While the yellow candy is still soft, press one yellow Reese’s Piece or M&M on the front to make the buckle. Let them set before serving! And don’t forget to admire how adorable they look! 😆

Recipe Tips and Tricks

  • Use fresh marshmallows as they melt smoothly and coat better.
  • If your melted chocolate is too thick, add a pea-sized amount of shortening until it reaches the desired consistency.
  • Chill the hats to keep their perfect shape.
  • Want to match your table? Use orange, gold, or bronze melts instead of yellow!

Variations and Substitutions

  • Different cookies: Swap out the cookies for others like Oreos or graham rounds.
  • Change the chocolate: Try dark or white chocolate for a twist.
  • Add sparkle: Sprinkle a little gold sanding sugar or edible glitter for shine.
  • Mini version: Use mini marshmallows and cookies for bite-sized hats.
