Colorful layers of grenadine, lemonade, and blue curacao come together to create a visually stunning and refreshingly delicious Red, White, and Blue Cocktail. Perfect for your 4th of July celebration, this layered drink will dazzle your guests and elevate your summer gatherings.

Whether you’re hosting a backyard barbecue, attending a festive gathering, or celebrating Independence Day at home, this Red, White, and Blue Cocktail is the perfect addition to any patriotic celebration.

There are 2 versions of the cocktail. For my version, I used grenadine, lemonade, and blue curacao liquor (not the syrup). It tastes very similar to cherry lemonade! However, it can also be made using grenadine, lemonade, vodka, and blue curacao syrup. I’ll include that recipe as well.

Let’s get started!

Why You Will Love This Recipe

Clear Layers: The key to distinct layers lies in the order of ingredients and a slow pour technique. This ensures the colors don’t mix, giving you that striking red, white, and blue look.

Simple Ingredients: With just a few readily available ingredients, you can whip up this cocktail without breaking the bank.

Versatile: Perfect for Memorial Day, 4th of July, and Labor Day celebrations.

Quick and Easy: This cocktail comes together in just minutes, making it a perfect last-minute addition to your party menu.

Ingredients for Patriotic Layered Cocktail

To create the perfect 4th of July Patriotic Funfetti Dip, you’ll need just a few simple ingredients – all of which you can find on Amazon, at Walmart, or even in your local grocery.

  • grenadine
  • lemonade – I used Simply Lemonade
  • blue curacao liquor
  • Ice

Step-by-Step Instructions to Make Red, White and Blue Cocktail

Step 1: Red Layer

  1. Prepare the Base: Begin by adding the grenadine to each glass.
  2. Add Ice: Next, add some ice, but make sure to add the ice after you add the grenadine. This will help prevent the whole drink from turning pink.

Step 2: White Layer

  1. Add Lemonade: Slowly pour the lemonade into each glass over the back of a spoon. A steady hand is crucial here to maintain distinct layers. I typically place a spoon upside down over the glass and then pour.

Step 3: Blue Layer

  1. Pour Slowly: Gradually pour the blue curacao over the spoon to cascade it into the glass. This technique helps the heavier blue layer sit atop the white layer without mixing.

See? Easy as can be! And doesn’t it look good enough to drink?!

Alternative Recipe: Vodka with Lemonade and Blue Curacao Syrup

For another refreshing twist on this patriotic cocktail, try adding vodka to the lemonade and using blue curacao syrup instead of the liquor version. This option keeps the vibrant colors and flavors while providing an alternative to those who prefer a slightly different taste.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz grenadine
  • 1 cup lemonade
  • 4 oz vodka
  • 2 oz blue curacao syrup
  • Ice

Instructions

  1. Red Layer: Add the grenadine to the two glasses. Then add the ice after the grenadine to keep the layers distinct.
  2. White Layer: Mix the lemonade and vodka. Slowly pour over the back of a spoon.
  3. Blue Layer: Using a spoon, slowly pour the blue curacao syrup to create the final layer.

FAQs

Q: Can I batch-make this cocktail?
A: Unfortunately, this cocktail doesn’t batch well due to the layering technique. However, a fun idea would be to set up a cocktail station where guests can learn how to make their own.

Q: What type of lemonade should I use?
A: I suggest a lightly sweetened lemonade. You can make your own, but for store-bought, I prefer the Simply Lemonade brand.

Q: How can I achieve perfect layers?
A: Pour slowly and use the back of a spoon to cascade the layers. It took me a few tries before I nailed it. Practice makes perfect!
