With more than 7,000 islands, the Philippines is overflowing with natural beauty, and some of the most breathtaking sights are its waterfalls. From towering cascades to hidden pools tucked deep in the jungle, waterfalls in the Philippines are as varied as they are unforgettable.
Hiking to these falls isn’t just about the destination; it’s about the journey through lush forests, local villages, and landscapes you won’t find anywhere else. Thanks to the tropical climate, many waterfalls flow year-round, but if you visit during the wet season from June to November, you’ll see them at their most powerful and surrounded by the lushest scenery.
Maria Cristina Falls, Iligan City
Nicknamed the “twin falls,” Maria Cristina splits into two powerful streams that thunder down 320 feet into the Agus River. This landmark isn’t just breathtaking — it also powers much of Iligan through its hydroelectric plant. A viewing deck lets you feel the mist on your face while nearby gardens make for a peaceful walk.
Pagsanjan Falls, Laguna
Reaching Pagsanjan Falls is an adventure in itself. A thrilling boat ride through rapids and narrow gorges feels like nature’s roller coaster, navigated by skilled boatmen. Once you arrive, the 300-foot waterfall plunges into a natural amphitheater where you can even swim behind the cascading water.
Tinago Falls, Iligan City
The name Tinago means “hidden,” and it fits perfectly. Reached by descending nearly 500 steps through thick forest, this 240-foot waterfall feels like a secret paradise. Its deep-blue pool is icy cold, making it one of the most refreshing waterfalls in the Philippines.
Aliwagwag Falls, Davao Oriental
Aliwagwag Falls is a natural staircase of 84 rock formations with water tumbling down more than 300 feet. The trail is surrounded by pristine forest filled with rare plants and wildlife, and multiple viewpoints give you breathtaking perspectives of the cascade.
Kawasan Falls, Cebu
Kawasan Falls is one of the most famous waterfalls in the Philippines, and it’s easy to see why. This three-tiered beauty near Oslob is surrounded by lush jungle and leads to some of the bluest, most photogenic pools you’ll ever see. Hike in for a refreshing dip, or go all out with a guided canyoneering adventure that includes bamboo rafting, cliff jumps, and adrenaline-pumping fun.
Tamaraw Falls, Puerto Galera
Only 30 minutes from Puerto Galera’s beach resorts, Tamaraw Falls is a lush 423-foot waterfall that provides the perfect inland adventure. The jungle trail is alive with birds and butterflies, and the base of the falls opens into a natural pool surrounded by smooth rocks ideal for swimming or sunbathing.
Daranak Falls, Rizal
An easy escape from Manila, Daranak Falls is a 45-foot cascade that flows into a large natural swimming pool surrounded by cliffs and greenery. Just downstream, you’ll find Batlag Falls, another scenic spot perfect for picnics and photo ops.
Hulugan Falls, Laguna
The hike to Hulugan Falls is as rewarding as the destination. You’ll pass coffee plantations and rural villages before reaching the 130-foot cascade that drops into natural pools. Many locals still use the waters here for bathing and washing, adding a cultural touch to your visit.
Asik-Asik Falls, North Cotabato
Unlike most waterfalls in the Philippines, Asik-Asik doesn’t tumble from a cliff — instead, it seems to pour directly out of a mossy rock wall, creating a magical curtain of water. Fed by underground springs, it flows year-round and is reached by a scenic 2-mile hike across rivers and farmland.
Mag-Aso Falls, Bohol
Tucked in the mountains of Bohol, Mag-Aso Falls requires a challenging hike, but the reward is a series of pools framed by tropical flowers and towering trees. Its name comes from the local word for smoke, inspired by the mist that rises from the powerful cascade.
Tumalog Falls, Cebu

Katibawasan Falls, Camiguin
On the volcanic island of Camiguin, Katibawasan Falls plunges 250 feet into a cool pool surrounded by giant ferns and orchids. Stairs and railings make the trail accessible, and the flow remains strong year-round thanks to Camiguin’s volcanic landscape.
Cambugahay Falls, Siquijor
Cambugahay Falls feels like a natural playground. With multiple tiers and rope swings hanging over turquoise pools, it’s one of the most fun waterfalls in the Philippines. Locals often jump in to show off their skills, and visitors are welcome to join the fun.
Bomod-ok Falls, Sagada
Often called the “Big Falls,” Bomod-ok requires a trek through rice terraces and traditional villages. The 200-foot waterfall roars into a gorge where the sound bounces dramatically off the cliffs, making it one of the most awe-inspiring sights in the Mountain Province.
Ditumabo Falls, Aurora
Nicknamed the “Mother Falls,” Ditumabo is a 140-foot cascade reached by a scenic hike past streams, groves, and small communities. The waterfall crashes into a swimming area ringed by smooth granite rocks, perfect for cliff jumping or simply soaking in the view.
Busay Falls, Laguna
Hidden near Los Baños, Busay Falls is a 100-foot cascade that contrasts with the geothermal springs and sulfur vents in the area. The water stays refreshingly cool year-round, making it a welcome stop after exploring nearby hot springs.
Aguinid Falls, Cebu
Aguinid Falls is an adventure in stages, with six levels of cascades you can climb using natural rock steps and handholds. Each tier offers its own swimming spot, from shallow wading areas to deeper pools. Plan to spend hours exploring.
Tangadan Falls, La Union
Tangadan Falls rewards adventurers with multiple tiers of cascades after an upstream river trek. Each pool offers something different — shallow spots for relaxing, deeper ones for swimming, and cliffs for daring jumps.
