Festival Fashion: Must-Haves for Festivals, Concerts and Parties

Festival season may seem like it’s a while away, but it’s not – in just a few shorts weeks festival season (and spring) will be here. Whether you’re a festival veteran or are heading off to your first music festival this year, you no doubt want to look and feel fabulous while you’re there. The problem is that festival fashion can be hard to get right. You want to look cute, quirky and elegantly cool while ensuring that you’re dressed to battle the elements should you have to. So, to ensure that your outfits are on point, I’ve put together this handy guide to festival fashion.

Pack a capsule wardrobe

First things first, a capsule wardrobe is a must. When you attend a music festival, you have to walk from the car to your tent, which is most probably a rather long way away. So, you don’t want to be lugging a massive suitcase with you. Instead, you want a smallish bag that’s easy to carry. This means packing a capsule wardrobe. Now, the key to capsule wardrobe success is picking a main color scheme and style and sticking to it. You want to pick pieces that can be team easily together and swapped to create an array of amazing outfits. As a rule of thumb, a capsule wardrobe should consist of no more than ten garments. Think leggings, a skirt (ideally, denim as that goes with everything), a couple of slogan tees, a jumper, a cardigan, a couple of dresses (pinafores are very in), and a top to wear under your dresses.

You need to accessorize

To make a capsule wardrobe work, you need to accessorize it up. Festivals are all about the accessories – think flower crowns, lots of jewelry, and pretty embellishments, so learning how to properly accessorize your capsule wardrobe is a must. Ideally, you want to pack an array of pieces that you can wear in different ways with different looks. Pick a color scheme that will work well with your capsule wardrobe and stick to it. Think pretty jewelry, cute, quirky hats, woven handbags that have a beachy and summery look and feel to them, cute wraps for keeping warm, and shoes that amp up the style of your look.

Layering is crucial

Obviously, when you’re at a festival you spend most of your time outside, so you need to ensure that you’re dressed in a way that will allow you to keep warm. For this, the best option is layering. Layer your clothes so that you can easily take clothing off or add clothing depending on the weather. Say you’re wearing a pretty sundress, pop a cardigan in your bag, tie an oversized denim shirt around your waist, and pop some leggings in your bag too, so that whatever the weather decides to do, you don’t have to worry about getting too hot or too cold.

If you’re heading to a festival this spring or summer, make sure to pack smart. Oh, and don’t forget to use your hair and makeup to add style to each look, as these can be powerful tools for adding style!
