Step-by-Step Instructions

These golf ball cookies come together in a few simple stages, and the molds do most of the hard work for you! Once you get the first batch done, the rest go pretty quickly. Follow along below for a fun Father’s Day dessert that’s perfect for golf lovers. ⛳🍪

Adding melted white chocolate into the golf ball candies mold

Step 1: Make the White Chocolate Golf Balls

  • In a microwave-safe bowl, microwave the white candy melts for 45 seconds and stir.
  • Continue microwaving in 12-second intervals, stirring after each interval, until completely melted and smooth.
  • Spoon the melted white chocolate into the golf ball molds, making sure each cavity is fully filled.
  • Place the mold in the refrigerator and chill for at least 30 minutes, or until hardened.
Adding part of the green chocolate to the cookie mold

Step 2: Prepare the Dark Green Chocolate Layer

  • In a microwave-safe bowl, microwave the dark green candy melts for 30 seconds and stir.
  • Continue microwaving in 12-second intervals until smooth and melted. Do not overheat as it causes the chocolate to seize.
  • Spoon about 2 tablespoons of melted chocolate into the bottom of each cookie mold cavity.

Step 3: Add the Oreo Cookies

  • Place one Double Stuf Oreo into each mold cavity directly on top of the melted chocolate.
  • Gently press the cookies down slightly so they settle into the chocolate layer.

Step 4: Cover the Cookies With More Chocolate

  • Spoon additional melted dark green chocolate over the tops of the Oreos until fully covered.
  • Smooth the tops if needed using the back of a spoon or small spatula.
  • Place the mold into the refrigerator and chill for at least 30 minutes.

Step 5: Repeat With Remaining Colors

  • Repeat Steps 2–4 using the vibrant green candy melts and then again using the dark cocoa candy melts.
  • Once finished, you should have:
    • 6 dark green cookies
    • 6 vibrant green cookies
    • 6 brown cookies
  • Set aside any leftover melted chocolate to use later as “glue” for attaching the golf balls.

Step 6: Remove the Cookies and Golf Balls From the Molds

  • Line two cookie sheets or trays with wax paper.
  • Carefully press the chocolate-covered Oreos out of their molds and place them onto one tray.
  • Remove the white chocolate golf balls from their molds and place them onto the second tray.

Step 7: Assemble the Golf Ball Cookies

  • Reheat any leftover melted chocolate if needed.
  • Spread about 1 teaspoon of melted chocolate onto the bottom of each white chocolate golf ball.
  • Gently press one golf ball onto the center of each chocolate-covered Oreo cookie.

Step 8: Let Harden and Serve

  • Allow the cookies to sit for about 15 minutes so the chocolate can fully harden.
  • Serve immediately or store in an airtight container until ready to enjoy.

And you are done! Aren’t they adorable? They are almost too cute to eat… almost. 😄And they taste delicious, too. Be sure to make plenty because these disappear FAST at parties.

Recipe Tips and Tricks

  • If your candy melts feel too thick, add a tiny pinch of Paramount crystals to thin them slightly.
  • Tap the molds gently on the counter to help remove air bubbles.
  • Let the chocolate fully harden before unmolding to avoid cracks.
  • If your golf balls seem too large for the Oreos, you can also place them slightly off-center for a fun “rolling golf ball” look.
  • Want extra detail? Add a little green sanding sugar around the golf ball to look like putting greens.

Fun Variations and Customization Ideas

One of my favorite things about these chocolate-covered golf ball cookies is how easy they are to personalize.

Try:

  • adding edible grass sprinkles
  • using black icing to draw tiny golf flags
  • adding “Best Dad By Par” cupcake toppers
  • packaging them in clear treat bags for party favors
  • using team colors for golf tournaments or sports banquets

You could even make a whole dessert board with these, chocolate-covered pretzels, and mini cupcakes for a fun golf-themed party setup.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make golf ball cookies ahead of time?

Yes! These are great make-ahead treats. Store them in an airtight container at room temp. for up to 1 month.

Do I have to use Double Stuf Oreos?

Double Stuf works best because the thicker filling helps support the chocolate coating, but regular Oreos can work too.

Can I use different candy melt colors?

Absolutely! You can customize these for birthdays, sports teams, Father’s Day parties, or golf tournaments.

Are these good for Father’s Day dessert tables?

Definitely. These are one of those desserts that people immediately notice because they’re playful, themed, and easy to grab and snack on.
