FATHER’S DAY GIFT GUIDE SUGGESTION

SYLVANIA SilverStar zXe High Beams

Made using a unique blend of xenon halogen gas technology, these bulbs are the newest and whitest color temperature product in the Sylvania SilverStar halogen in the product line, and provide the look and feel of HID.  Independent research has shown that whiter color temperature headlight bulbs are perceived to be 50% more effective than standard halogen bulbs.

The SYLVANIA SilverStar zXe High Beams bulbs allow you to see up to 40% further down the road and up to 50% further on the sides, also making it much easier for others to see you.  Car enthusiasts will love the jewel-like shimmer created by a special mirror tip and cobalt blue coating, while all drivers will appreciate the crisp, bright whiteness that is much more noticeable than other halogen bulbs.  These bulbs are sold in a set.

My Thoughts

I had these put in my Acura TL (***please be sure to read your manual, as certain cars actually require a professional to install the lights***) and was quite impressed!  When my father originally bought the car, it had HID bulbs in it.  Once I inherited the car, one of the high beam bulbs went out, so I tried the Silverstar zXe.

To be honest, I can barely tell a difference because these are so similar in color and intensity to the HID bulbs;  in fact, I can hardly tell that these are halogen bulbs.  The light they provide is steady and bright, and they illuminate both so far down the road and out to the sides it is amazing.

Compared to the halogen bulbs for the high beams on our other car, these bulbs are like the difference between day and night!

SYLVANIA SilverStar High Performance HID Xenon (D2R)

The SYLVANIA SilverStar High Performance HID Xenon (D2R) HID Xenon bulbs are engineered to provide a brighter and whiter light than what comes standard on most cars, up to 35% brighter. They provide up to 30% increased down the road visibility and up to 35% increased visibility out to the sides.

These are directly compatible with the factory bulbs on most cars.  The bulbs provide an intense, steady blue-white light at 5000K (the color spectrum) at 3200 lumens (intensity). These bulbs are sold individually, but it is recommended that you replace both bulbs at the same time.

My Thoughts

Since my car requires separate high and low beam bulbs, these SilverStar High Performance Xenon 5000K provide the brightest low beams I have ever had in a car.  They are so bright, it is rare for me to need to switch on my high beams.

These (unlike my bright beams) I was able to replace, and it was a cinch, they simply snapped right in! (***Be sure to always read your manual in order to avoid electrical shock***).  The Sylvania D2R High Intensity Discharge (HID) Bulb, (Pack of 1) can be purchased individually on Amazon.com, Autozone.com and at many other auto parts stores both online and off.

Sylvania Headlight Restoration Kit

If you are driving an older car, sometimes it doesn’t matter how bright the bulbs you buy are because the lenses are so foggy.  Replacing the lenses can be extremely expensive, which is why the Sylvania Headlight Restoration Kit is the perfect solution!  This kit is designed to remove thousands of miles worth of damage and restore your headlight lenses to like-new performance in light output.

It also helps to reduce glare by up to 70%, and completely removes that hazy, yellowish appearance on your lenses.  Although there are other similar kits available, Sylavania’s Headlight Restoration kit also includes a “UV Block Clear Coat” which helps to protect your lenses against future UV damage and prevents fading.

My Thoughts

The do-it-yourself kit comes with everything you need, short of water and a towel, to easily and quickly fix your headlight covers.   The included instructions are simple and easy to follow, and in about 25 minutes, you will have clear headlight lenses once again. Using a surface activator spray, three different grit sandpaper, a polishing compound, a UV protective clear coat and some good old-fashioned arm strength, in a short amount of time your yellow, cloudy lenses will look clear and new!
