In the quest to rid myself of the mop and bucket routine, I have tried several different types of spray-n-mop combos from the ones where you place the pad, clean and toss, to those you fill, spray and wash. None of them have come close to the ease-of-use and remarkable results the Shark Pro Steam and Spray Mop have. The Shark Pro Steam and Spray Mop not only cleans your floor, but it also sanitizes by killing germs and bacteria. According to the website, the super-heated tap water kills up to 99.9% of germs and bacteria, including e-coli, staph & salmonella, as well as 99.9% of the virus that causes H1N1. It is safe to use on all hard floor surfaces including wood, stone, tile and laminate, with the exception of wood or tile floors that are worn or treated with wax. Shark Pro Steam & Spray Mop: Overall
When I first opened the box I was thrilled to see that the Shark Pro Steam and Spray Mop comes with everything I need to get started, and there was very little assembly required.
Included in the box was a simple instruction manual, 4 “AA” batteries for the spray mechanism, a bottle of the Shark Steam Energized Cleanser™, a measuring/pouring cup, two disposable pads and one washable pad.
As far as assembly, all I had to do was insert the top part of the handle into the bottom part, insert the batteries for the spray mechanism, and then attach the cleaning solution bottle.
Once you are done assembling you choose the pad you want to use – I opted for a disposable one for my trial run. Attaching the pad is a cinch and takes no more effort than placing the pad against the bottom of the Steam and Spray Mop which has several Velcro-type squares. The pad simply attaches to those squares. I have to admit I was a bit skeptical about how well this would hold, but to my surprise it held very well!
Now, using the included measuring/pouring cup, you just add water to the 450 mL steam compartment on the back of the mop, then plug it in and turn it on. The first thing I noticed was how quickly it heated up. Within less than a minute it was ready to go. The second thing I noticed was how quiet it is, aside from the occasional hiss of steam, you can hardly hear a thing
Using the Shark Pro Steam and Spray is actually fun – yes, that’s right, I said it – it makes it fun to clean! It is very light weight, and the swivel steering makes getting around corners and furniture, under the edge of cabinets and in other tight places a cinch.
Its extra-long cord is perfect for going from room to room without having to move it from plug to plug. I was also impressed with how long the water lasted. I was able to do my kitchen the hallway and bathroom, and still have plenty left. As far as how well it cleans, well you know how on the commercial they say: “There is clean and then there is “Shark Clean”? Let’s just say that it now makes perfect sense!
Knowing I was going to receive a Sharp Pro Steam and Spray Mop to review, I waited on mopping the kitchen floor. I continued to sweep and clean up any spills, but as far as mopping I let it be for about a week and a half. Knowing it was going to be yucky is why I chose to use one of the disposable pads. As you can see from the picture below, it was more than yucky! The pad was literally covered in dirt!
As far as the bathroom went, I continued to mop it. In fact, I actually used my regular mop on it yesterday. Today when I finished cleaning with the Shark, it became very clear what “Shark Clean” entails – the pad had plenty of dirt on it! Dirt I had always figured my regular sweeping and mopping was removing.
