Christmas Wreath Donuts Ingredients
This simple Christmas treat recipe calls for just 3 basic ingredients:
To save even more time, I used store-bought mini powdered donuts. However, you could always make your favorite homemade donut recipe and use those instead.
Christmas Wreath Donuts Instructions
These holiday donuts are quite easy to make. You simply add the sprinkles to the donuts using the gel icing as glue. Give them a bit for the gel icing to dry, and they are good to go!
However, you do need some patience to make these. I actually had some trouble at first putting the holly leaf and holly berry sprinkles on the donuts because they are so small. They kept getting stuck to the gel icing on my fingers, too.
However, once I figured out the best way to do it, things went a lot faster. I wound up using a toothpick as a brush to add the icing to each sprinkle and then used my fingers to place them on the donuts. You may find an easier way that works for you.
If you have kids, this would be a cinch for them since their fingers are so small. You could also probably use a small food paintbrush and a pair of tweezers, too.
Additionally, these holly and berry sprinkles look a bit bigger/thicker than the ones I used, so they make be easier to use.
Tips for Making and Storing Christmas Wreath Donuts
Use these pointers to make this recipe even easier and quicker!
- Adding the gel icing directly to the powdered donut does not work very well. Instead, add a little dab of icing to each sprinkle.
- You can make these Christmas Wreath Donuts up to a day ahead of time. Simply store them in an airtight container.
- These holiday donuts can be stored for up to two weeks as long as they are kept in an airtight container at room temperature.
See? I told you this fun and festive holiday recipe was going to be quick and easy! And don’t they look so cute?!
