Our cat is more than just a pet, she is a member of our family. Therefore, we want to make sure we are feeding her a brand of food that she not only enjoys, but is made with high quality ingredients and provides her with the nutrients she needs to live a healthy, active life. The youngest in the family, she is also the most picky. I’ve heard of cats being finicky, but this borders on obsession! Needless to say, her pickiness makes it a bit harder to find a food we all can agree upon. Then I had the opportunity to try a brand of cat food called Nutrience.
Nutrience is a 59 year old Canadian-based company whose pet food has just recently become available in the U.S. They believe in healthy lifestyles for humans and pets, and understand that behind every healthy, active lifestyle is high-quality, nutrient-packed food. In fact, Nutrience holds such high standards when it comes to manufacturing their food, that all of their products are backed with a “no bad anything” promise. In fitting with this promise, all of their food is made in small batches using only the finest ingredients sourced from the best Canadian and US growers. This allows the company to focus on quality and their commitment to natural, wholesome nutrition for active cats. Each and every batch of food goes through rigorous testing procedures, as well as an additional inspection through a third-party company. In addition, the Nutrience facilities are routinely audited by the NSF International to make sure they are always compliant and following the regulatory standards, client specifications and procedures. With all the recalls and problems regarding the quality of pet food, it is very refreshing to know that Nutrience holds the same beliefs I do when it comes to the foods I feed my cat.
Nutrience offers three different lines of cat food including Original, Natural and Grain-Free. Knowing Sookie’s love for chicken, I opted for the Original formula whose main ingredients are chicken meal and brown rice (these are also the very first ingredients listed). To be honest, when I first saw the words “chicken meal” it caused a bit of doubt, until I learned that chicken meal is a meat concentrate that contains nearly 300% more protein than fresh chicken! Protein that is good for Sookie’s muscles. In addition to the protein from the chicken, the Original formula also contains omega-3 and omega-6 for healthy skin and coat, fruits and vegetables to support a healthy immune system, a blend of prebiotics to encourage healthy digestion and many vitamins and minerals essential to our cat’s health. You can find a complete list of ingredients, as well as a guaranteed analysis of the ingredients on the Nutrience site. I was especially shocked when I compared the Nutrience ingredients with our usual cat food’s ingredients – there wasn’t a natural-sounding ingredient on her old food’s list until I was almost half-way through!
Like humans, cats need to remain active in order to stay healthy, and having the ability to remain active is dependent on the quality and type food you eat. Nutrience provides Sookie with the proper nutrition she needs to maintain an active lifestyle. Although she is an indoor cat, Sookie still gets plenty of exercise. If she is not running through our home chasing something only she can see, she is playing with one of her many toys. My husband and I make a point to also engage her in some sort of active, cooperative play daily, including everything from “fishing” with a pole that has a wiggly worm on the end of a string, to chasing after a ball, to running in mad circles trying to catch the ‘mouse’ that is hiding under the cover.
From the first time I served Sookie Nutrience she loved it. After more than a month of eating it, her coat is shiny and healthy, and she is active and happy. To purchase visit Nutrience on Amazon, and be sure to connect with them on both Facebook and Twitter. And for all of you dog-lovers, Nutrience makes food for them as well!

I don't have a cat but I DO know what it's like to want to keep my pet happy and healthy. We feed our dog the best and make sure she gets regular exercise and good food.

Great story about pets. We are no owners of no pets and it's so heartbreaking.

We don't have cats, but I just wanted to say we have the same feeding set for our dog and love it! I've heard that brand is good though.
