CBD vs THC: A World of Difference with Diamond CBD

Love it? Pls Share it!

You know that old saying, the more you know about something, the better? Well, it’s true. Especially when it comes to new products. For quite a while now, CBD Oil has been making headlines all over the world for its impressive potential health benefits. But because of misinformation and lack of education, many people assume that CBD is pretty much the same thing as THC. It’s not. In fact, there’s a world of difference between CBD vs THC.

CBD vs THC

Quick Enlightenment On CBD vs THC

So what exactly is CBD? And what is the difference between it and THC? Well for starters, both CBD (Cannabidiol) and THC (Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol) are just two of over 100+ naturally occurring chemical compounds that are found in plants belonging to the Cannabis Sativa family. These chemical compounds are called cannabinoids, and they are present in both hemp plants and marijuana plants. And that is pretty much where the similarities end.

Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC for short, is a psychoactive compound. It is the chemical compound that’s responsible for the ‘high’ feeling people get from marijuana. It is also subject to restrictions in many states. While certain states have legalized marijuana for recreational purposes, in Georgia, its use is only legal for medicinal purposes. Thus, only individuals who are suffering from particular medical conditions are eligible to obtain a medical marijuana card in Georgia, which is essential for purchasing products containing THC.

Cannabidiol, or CBD, on the other hand, is non-psychoactive, meaning it will not give you a feeling of being high. In fact, the World Health Organization has determined that CBD has absolutely no potential for abuse or dependence. CBD does, however, appear to offer a wealth of positive health benefits both for humans and animals alike.

And if you’re still not convinced, it also helps to know that CBD is most often extracted from the hemp plant, not the marijuana plant. Hemp, which contains little to no THC, is regularly used to create all sorts of industrial and commercial products that people use on a daily basis. Products such as clothing, accessories, shoes, paper, food, dietary supplements, skin products, rope, insulation, and even plastics are all made from hemp.

CBD Products

When you hear people talking about over-the-counter CBD products, they are most often referring to CBD which has been extracted from the hemp plant. In some cases, the cannabinoid is mixed with a carrier oil to create CBD Oil. But CBD also comes in a variety of other forms including capsules, sprays, gummies, bath bombs, creams, lotions, scrubs, vapes, and many more.

Regardless of its form, CBD has been shown to offer an amazing variety of health benefits. In fact, there are countless studies and reviews touting the health benefits of CBD. It is being used to treat a wide array of conditions ranging from pain relief to anxiety, skincare to heart health, and so much more.

In fact, in June of 2018, the FDA actually approved the use of CBD (in medicine by the name of Epidiolex) to help reduce seizures in children with two very rare forms of epilepsy that other types of medication did not help. Doctors in the United States are now prescribing Epidiolex to treat both Dravet syndrome (DS) and Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (LGS) with very promising results!

While it is still early, and more research needs to be done, CBD for health care is looking more and more promising!
