This blogger’s husband is a wonderful Dad which is why when QVC offered me the chance to review a product from their Dad and Grad Gift Guide, I knew I had found the perfect present!  James loves to grill and he loves to camp, which make the Coleman Fold N Go Charcoal Grill the ideal gift.  

Like everything I have ordered from QVC, the grill arrived within days. It came partially assembled in a sturdy box, and was very easy to put together.  All you need is a screwdriver to attach the metal stand, the rest of the parts just slide into place.  

 Although this portable grill is small, it cooks incredibly well and has a very unique design.  Unlike any portable grill I have ever used, the Coleman Fold N Go literally folds closed!  

When you are ready to use it, you simply unlatch the lock and open the grill.   Next, slide the porcelain-coated steel grates off so you can fill each tray with a single layer of standard charcoal briquettes.  

Replace the grates by sliding them back into their slots, then fold the grill closed and make sure to slide the latch until it is firmly locked.  

To light the grill, insert a lit match through the open spaces on the side and the charcoal will quickly catch.  

Be careful not to stand or lean directly over the top of the grill as flames will come through it until the charcoal burns down to where it is ready to cook on!  Do not open the grill until the flame is faint…you can see through the slot on the side when the coals are ready.  Once the flames die down and the charcoal is glowing, you unlatch the lock and open the grill.

A special Grate Tool comes with the grill which you can use to adjust the cooking temperature by moving the grates into one of three slots on a leveling plate.  It is quite an innovative idea!  The higher up you place the grates, the lower the cooking temperature. The grill is now ready to go!

Since we live in an apartment with a small porch, this particular grill is the perfect size for us!  It’s unique chimney design allows it to heat up quickly, and I was surprised with just how quickly it was ready.  We chose to grill steaks and shrimp the first time we used his grill, and they came out perfect!

The heat is evenly distributed across both sides (I love that there are two different sides to grill on instead of just one), and the size worked out perfectly for two steaks and some shrimp in a foil pack;  there was actually room left over!  The actual cooking surface total size is 150 square inches.

Clean up is as easy as was the prep!  Once the ash is cold, you pull the grates off, then slide out each cooking tray and dispose of the ash in a proper location. The grates are actually dishwasher safe, and the grill pans and inside of the grill can be cleaned with a soft, brass-bristled brush and a putty knife or scraper (a complete list of suggested cleaning tools is included in the instruction booklet.)  Put it all back together, close it up, lock it, cover it up and you are done!  The entire clean up process took maybe ten minutes once the grill was completely cool to the touch.  There is even a handy metal handle by which to carry it, and it is the perfect size to put off to the side out-of-the-way until the next time.  Grill covers can be purchased separately from the manufacturer or a dealer.

James and I both love his Coleman grill.  It is made by a leading brand so we know it is good quality, and its small size and light weight makes it the perfect portable grill.  We can take it camping or grill out at home, carry it with us to the park or over to a friend’s house.  Thanks to QVC I found the perfect Father’s Day gift!
