Recreating Your Home With Paint
One of the best home improvement projects you can do to really give your home a facelift is painting. The best part is that painting is usually also the most affordable and easiest solution, too. You can completely recreate your whole space with a little paint. So, if you want your home to have a new look, here are some tips on how to recreate your home with paint.
Stick to One Color Scheme
If you ever watch home improvement shows or have seen a model home, then you may have recognized how they use one generally color scheme for the whole house. This scheme helps unite every space, while also allowing for some variations within the home to let you get creative and keep things from getting boring. It also makes things look a bit cleaner and adds to the overall flow.
To pick a color scheme, you will need to look at a color wheel. It will help you to see what colors go together. It can also help you to ensure that your colors are all in the same general palette.
Choose a Main Color You Love
Since you will be building your color scheme off one color, you want that to be something you love. You can choose any color, even bright ones, like orange or red. There are many variations of colors, so you can find muted shades that will be easy to use throughout your home for any color you choose. Since this color scheme is going to be something used in every room, it has to be something that you like.
Consider Your Current Paint Colors
While painting is one of the most affordable home improvement projects, it can still get expensive if you try to do your whole house at once. The better option is to do a little at a time and work with what you already have. Unless you completely hate your home’s current colors, it can help to work off of them as you create a new color palette. This will help you save money because some areas won’t need to be painted at all. Plus, if you are hiring house painters, you will find that it makes your life much easier if you only have one area worked on at a time.
Pick Three to Five Colors
You want to have some variety in your color palette, so don’t just go with one color. This will end up looking flat and boring. You will need paint for trims, accents, and walls. You should have at least three-one for each of the three parts. However, five color options will allow you a bit more variable and can help make your painting options a little less boring.
Start with your main color. This can be bold or light. It can be bright or soft. Choose what you like, as mentioned earlier. You should choose a white for the trim. There are a lot of different whites to choose from. You also need a neutral color that can be used to paint areas like halls that will connect one room to another. This should be a color that complements your main color. It doesn’t have to be a shade of brown. It can be a shade of your main color. Also, choose a complementary color for your main shade that can also be used for large areas instead of the main shade to add variety. Lastly, choose your accent color. Often this can be the boldest color because it won’t be used in large quantities.
Changing the paint in your home can have a major impact. It is an easy way to update your home and give it a facelift when you feel like things are getting boring.
