Home life is meant to be comfortable. We want the short amount of time we have at home to be easy and fun. The last thing we need after a long day at work is to spend a downtime completing much-hated chores and maintenance. It’s important to have enough time to wind down and relax when we’re not at home. That’s why more and more of us are investing in some of the latest gadgets and gizmos that offer convenience and more time for the family. Here are some of the best handy home updates available right now:
Cleaning
Robots will soon be everywhere, helping out around the house, and cooking the dinner for us. Alright, maybe not that soon! But there are some rather handy robot vacuums and mops on the market right now. These cute little guys get on with the floor cleaning while you put your feet up or help the kids with their homework. If you think about all the hours you lose each month pushing your upright vacuum around, it makes sense to get yourself a little robot to do it for you. Once he’s programmed, all you need to do is tip the dirt in the bin when he’s done.
Entertainment
Smart TVs and wireless sound systems have made life at home so much more convenient. You can watch or listen to anything anywhere in the house. You can get a Sonos system installation by JNB or other contractor that will provide you with a high-quality sound experience. With everything wireless and app controlled, you don’t even need to worry about finding remote controls. Use the internet on your TV. Stream an entire box set without having to change the DVD. And if you get up for a cuppa, just switch to the screen in the kitchen.
Smart Appliances
Fridges are becoming even more useful in the kitchen. And so is your washing machine, your dishwasher, and your hot water system! More and more appliances are programmable or operational through wireless systems. You can turn on the lights before you ever get home (or turn them off). Your fridge could remind you to pick up a pint of milk on the way home. And your tumble dryer will save energy by switching itself off when it knows the clothing is dry.
Solar or Wind?
Powering your home used to be a simple case of paying a big electric bill every month. But now you can choose to use solar or wind power generated on your own property. This means you could be enjoying heat and light plus power for your appliances without any big bills from the electric company. Get most of the heavy powered tasks done on a sunny day for free. And if you live in a sunny climate, you may even be able to sell what you generate back to the grid.
Updating your home can be fun. Of course, technology advances every day, so it might become an ongoing task! What are your favorite updates that you’ve done recently?
