I love listening to music while I am either relaxing in the tub or getting ready for the day by taking a shower. What I don’t love (and my neighbors most likely don’t either) is how loud I have to turn up the music to hear it over the running water! So not only can I answer any incoming phone calls, but I can also either stream my favorite music or tune in to my most-loved local radio station! The ABCO Tech is compatible with all iPhone, iPad and iPod products; as well as other smartphones, Android devices and all other Bluetooth media players – from up to 30 feet away! Plus it’s auto-scanning FM radio function runs the entire FM bandwidth from 88.0 to 108.0 MHz! It also features a built-in high sensitivity microphone for hands-free, crystal clear calls.
The speaker is designed to be small, lightweight and sturdy. It has a large suction cup on the back so you can securely attach it to the tile walls. Assorted buttons on the front allow you to easily turn the speaker on or off, change from streamed music to radio, skip forwards or backwards, pause the music, answer incoming calls and adjust the volume. It runs off of a built-in, rechargeable battery, with a playback time of 6 to 8 hours, and a mini USB cord comes with the unit so you can recharge as needed. I found it takes about 2.5 to 3 hours to get a full charge. It will autopair with your Bluetooth-capable device when in range simply by turning it on and searching for it on your device.
At right around 3″ in diameter, this speaker may be compact, but the sound it emits is big! I was quite impressed with both the clarity and the loudness. Of course, being a smaller speaker, I did experience some distortion when I turned it up as loud as it could go. Many speakers this size tend to have a small, tinny sound, but not this one! The music is crystal clear, with the perfect amount of treble and bass. And while it does not put out tons of window-rattling bass, I am still quite impressed with the amount you can hear. Besides who needs a sub-woofer in the shower, anyway?! Overall I am quite happy with the sound it has, and I know my neighbors are much happier since they no longer hear my music! As far as the speakerphone function, it also works great, projecting the sound on both ends clearly and with plenty of volume.
